Xantrex Clicking Sound / Relay Sound

Yahoo Message Number: 107219
Group: My Xantrax 2000 Inverter/Charger is making a clicking / relay noise. It almost sounds like a fan that has gone bad, but I can also hear the fan running in the background.
Here's what I've done:
1. The noise is constant whether the House Batteries (Salesman's switch) or Chassis Batteries are on.
2. Noise is constant whether I'm running inverter, shore power or generator
3. Pressing the "reset" switch on the Xantrax shuts down the unit (and stops the noise), but the unit reboots automatically and the noise starts immediately (even as it is just powering up).
4. There's no fault showing on the Silverleaf and all the lights on the Xantrax show "normal".

I have uploaded a video (which has recorded the noise) for all to hear.
 Questions:
1. Ever seen / heard this before and what is it?
2. Since shutting off the batteries (all of them) doesn't shut down the xantrax, how do you shut it down or possibly remove it for repair?
3. We are in MN and heading to Iowa in about 3 weeks, I may either take the unit or the coach to Winnebago, hoping they have the expertise to fix it.
4. In the event it has to be fixed by a repair facility and sent back to me, will any/all of the power in the coach work without the unit? Example, can I run off of AC or Genset just not inverter?

I would rather proactively fix this thing before it just dies. We are planning an 8 week trip to Southern Utah in September and would rather not have to deal with it while on the road.

Thoughts?

Just listened to your video clip.... YEP, it's bad! Sounds to me that something is rubbing. Probably the fan? I don't work on those inverters just the older xantrex/trace/heart & all magnum's.

IMO I'd get that out of there ASAP! IMO I'd also change over to a Magnum. JMO

Disconnect the battery cables (both positive & negative) & both incoming AC & outgoing AC (you can tie those 2 cables together, black to black, white to white & green or bare to green/bare) that will allow you to use the circuits that run off the inverter when hooked to shore or gen while the inverter is out. But remember when you remove your inverter that your also removing your house battery charger. SO put a battery charger on the batteries...

Good luck!

Thanks Jim. I have a battery minder that I can use while the xantrex is out. I may call you if I have more questions.
