New Twist on Backup Camera problem

Yahoo Message Number: 8118
Our backup camera stopped functioning a few weeks ago. With help from everyone here, we did our own troubleshooting that we could (mostly checking fuses, and obvious wiring.) We had to have some servicing anyway, so took it to Mike Eidsmoe's in El Cajon, CA (we were happy with them!) and they checked it out. Found a loose wire...camera now works IN FORWARD ONLY...backing up there's no image. They've called and checked with CC and others and nobody seems to know what else to check. Anyone else ever have this problem? Weird!
Thanks...

Jan McNeill (ps we don't use it much for backing at all, so this is satisfactory for us for now, but we'd like to get it 100% sometime!)

Jan,

I also lost my reverse camera, but all I had to do was go through the setup again and reset the option per CC's instructions.

Tom, I'm not sure if I understand you correctly or you misunderstood what I indicated. Our backup camera works fine while we are going forward. Once the gear is put into reverse, the camera blacks out.
Weird. Does the setup rectify that? I can't imagine it would. I can't imagine a setting that would impact it. Please clarify.
Thanks.

Jan,

I can't remember if mine worked going forward or not. I know it didn't work in reverse (black screen) until I went through the setup, then all was well. CC said sometimes they lose their memory setup, couldn't explain what causes it. Have you tried the setup function, it's in the manual? Tom

Thanks, Tom...sounds weird, but I'll try it (had done the setup functions before when we had NO image at all....they finally found a loose wire) I'll try it tomorrow though...too pooped to pop tonight and that's NOT the time to do that kind of stuff! Jan McNeill

BINGO! You won the prize...right helpful answer! By the wire coming undone, it probably cleared the memory of the whole unit, so a simple resetting of the functions did it! You saved us hours of more wiring tracing! Many thanks for the helpful suggestion...
