Battery disconnect

We are storing our 2000 Intrigue for the first winter we have owned it. About a month ago I turned the battery disconnect switches on and after waiting a couple of minutes I plugged the coach in to 30 amp service. About two minutes later I heard a rather loud buzzing sound that went on for about 20 seconds. After that the coach had 118 volts registering on the Good Governor plugged inside the coach. This past weekend I went to check on the coach again and the same thing happened. I have never heard this sound before, but until this winter I have never had the batteries disconnected. Any idea what I am hearing and is it something I should be concerned about.

Mac,

I believe what you are hearing is your echo charger coming on. It will begin an above 14 volt charge until it evaluates the condition of your batteries and then adjusts to their needs.

Mac: Depending on how loud the buzzing was, it was probably the inverter in the charging mode, bringing the batteries up to full charge. Disconnecting them does not prevent them from normal drop due to non-use I suppose.

Hi Mac,

You mention that after the 20 sec buzz you have 118 vac. The most probable source of the buzz is the surge protector located behind the 120 vac circuit breaker panel. It analyses the voltage for 2 min 15 seconds and then applies power to the panel. Please refer to schematic #S0490. You may have a loose connection in that area, a high current draw, a faulty transfer switch or the surge protector is failing.
