How to open access panel

On our 2000 Magna, I'd like to remove the access panel to gain access to the components under the dash in the front of the coach. The panel is right along side the entry stairs. There are four decorative padded buttons that I assume are covering up screws. But I can't figure out how to remove the decorative padded button to get at the screw that lies beneath. Do I just pry it off with a screw driver? Don't want to wreck anything in that public of a location.

Fred.....Yes, you can easily pop them off with a screwdriver.

Hey fred, The screw covers just pop off. It is a friction fit. Place a thin piece of wood like a paint stirrer or a tongue depressor under the shank of your screw driver. This will act as a fulcrum and protect the vinyl from damage. the, lever it off. they will snap back on easily.

Fred, they come off pretty easy. They're just snap covers like you thought. You should be able to pull them off by hand, but if not just use something like a putty knife or butter knife, nothing sharp. there will be snaps and philips screws behind them, i've had mine off several times.

Our 2000 Allure came with this panel removed, which we still have the cover and the previous owners had a nice oak recessed map or magazine rack made. It is awesome to put things while driving like maps and magazines LOL. I can take a pic if anyone is interested.

I would love to see a picture of the rack.

Here is a photo I have in stock which barely shows it. I will have DW take a pic as they are in fla and I am here in Pa waiting for the snow LOL. I have to say it is handy.

OK thanks everyone. I've been known to sort of wreck stuff when I'm dismantling. It seemed simple enough but I wanted to confirm!!
