tires 12r or 295 on 2ooo magna

Hi, will need some drive tires soon we have 12r 22.5 now has anyone put on 295 instead, if so how did they work out, and what brand Thanks Charles 5886 2k magna

I went with the Bridgestone 12r 22.5 R 250s. They seem to be excellent tires that supposedly don't get the UV cracking like michelin's do.

Hi Charles, I just replaced my 12R's with 295/80R/22.5's on my 2000 Magna. Michelin makes both but the rubber compound on the 295's is much better. Quieter, better milage and a softer ride. I spent more than a few minutes on research and think I made the right choice..

Hi Charles, I punched all the tires, 315 on front, 295's drive axle through the FMCA, Michelins all around.

Hi Charles, I have 315's Michelin's all the way around on my 2000 Magna. They work great and you're able to run a lower air pressure, which makes for a great ride. Good Luck!

Hi Charles, Yes there's enough space between the duals, they're close, but they don't make contact roughly about a 1/2 inch at the closest point. My front rims are 9's and the rears are 8.25's. I haven't had a single issue with them rubbing or anything else. when I dump all the air or level the coach the outside of the tires is close, but still no contact. I have a 22,500lb rear axle rating. based off my weight I run 95lbs in the rear and 105lbs in the front. when I bought the coach it had the 315's on it , but they were 7 years old. They still looked great, but not knowing the history of them I opted to change them out right away. I had the receipts from them, they were purchased from Les Schaub in Junction city. I also purchased new Smart Tire sensors and tires from them through the FMCA Michelin program. I definitely would recommend them if you're in the area, they're great to deal with and they get fresh date codes and no sales tax. Good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hi Chip. Thanks for the info that helpout my thoughs on 315 or 295.315 sounds like the way to go. Just wander what model magna you have, we have the chef choice , what holds you screen door close when main door is open, and will your screen door hook to your main door if you want it to open and close with main door, our is missing all the pieces that hold the door in either way. And does yours have 4 switches near the frig, and what do they work.I know what 3 of ours do lt lt cove lt but cant find what the 4 sw does. I have a Indulgence. I do not have the switches in the same spot as you. I have four switches in the bedroom, those switches control my bedroom lights, one for each side , one for the closet light and one controls the bedroom rope lights. I'm not sure with yours, but I recommend you look at rope lights or a closet light or something not so obvious. Maybe perhaps you have a burnt out light that it controls or it controls a light that is controled by a switch at the light and the light switch. For example the switch in my bedroom that controls my rope lights requires the twist switch on my light to the left of my bed to be turned on in order for it to work. If I don't turn the switch on at the light fixture the wall switch appears to control nothing. In regards to your question about the screen door, mine has a magnet and metal plate like a lot of cabinets have to hold the screen door to the coach door when it's open and you don't want the screen closed. The screen door is closed with a tab screwed to the door jamb and a roller attatched to the screen door. Both of these items can be purchase at any home improvement store, Home Depot, Lowe's, OSH Etc. Regarding engine I have C-10 Cat. Let me know if you figure it out. Good Luck!

Just info sharing for those reading this post that do not have 9" rims. Some tire manufactures say you can put 315's on the 8 1/2" rims found on many Allures and Intrigues in some years. (Not sure about Inspires, rim width's and spacing on drives.). They sometimes have a footnote derating the tire if going onto the 8 1/2"'s.

On our specific 04 Allure, built in Sept 2003, we did not have the space on the duals fro the 365's.

I did go with 6 (Due to a pot hole encounter, I had had to replace two damaged tires about 20 months or so ago. Those are 12R's BF Goodrich ST230's - the only young born date tire I could find as part of the FMCA program at that time, due to a Michelin tire shortage.) with the Michelin XZA2's in the 295 profile. Really improved the front end feel over dots and expansion joints, and a bit less noise, then the XZE*'s 12R's we were replacing due to age. Very pleased with these tires. The ST230's are on the Tag position now, after consulting with Oregon Motor Coach that the tag axles are fulling independent, so having 12R's vs 6 295's would not be an issue.

Load ranges of the Michelin 295's have plenty of capacity for my 40' Allure.

Other tires to consider are the Hankook AH11/12, many positive reports. FMCA also still has the BF Goodrich ST230's, a solid and well thought of tire. And they're now offering the Continentals too. On the FMCA program, price wise it goes BG Goodrich, Continental, Michelin. But depending upon chosen tire, the price gap between the Michelin and Continental's are not that great:)!

Best of luck to you, be sure you specify your customer right to wanting tires under a certain Born On Date, 6 months and younger are a common request. (I mention this, as I had a bad experience with usually well thought of Dickman's tires. Two sides to every story, but I felt they were dishonest in their representation of the facts on the order I placed over the phone. I was called a liar in an email response to American Express. Very, very poor way to treat a customer - and I sincerely did my best to resolve the issue with Dickman's. Caution, and get EVERYTHING IN WRITING on your conditions of purchase, if dealing with them. Sad, as they for years on this board and others, were given high marks on helping RV'er's... Not my experience...)

Sorry for your bad experience with Les Schwab. Experiences vary, I only had the one dealing with them and perhaps I was lucky or you were unlucky. However, you correct about the 8.25 vs 9" wheels. The tires will fit on 8.25" wheels, but you will not have the maximum load capacity of the tires using the 8.25" wheels. The 315's obtain their highest load rating at 130lbs , but 8.25" wheels have a maximum pressure rating of 120lbs . All that being said, the previous owner of my coach had changed my steer wheels to 9's thus, I have the maximum load capacity of the 315's at the steering axle. However, because of the increased capacity of the tires themselves on my coach and weight I only need to run 105lbs which makes for a good riding RV. The duals with 8.25's and 315's only need 95lbs based on my weight, we'll below their max of 120lbs limitation of the wheel size. Bottom line due your homework. I did mine . I could have gone with a smaller tire and been fine, however it would have meant running more pressure. I opted for more tire and less pressure. I hope this helps someone.
