Looking for tire advice

As recently posted and subject to MUCH discussion: I had one tag-axle tire worn down to the nubs by a broken axle bracket. We've re-bolted the bracket and switched the remaining "good" tag tire to that side, since I've yet to get it perfectly aligned, so I've got rubber to spare on that axle. The badly worn tag tire is on the other side of the rig where I know the alignment is OK.

So: I've got to add a pair of tires to the rig. The other Six tires are all Toyo M144, 315/80R22.5 put on new when I bought the coach a little over year ago. I've put 14,000 miles on it, so they're not worn noticeably yet. My thought would be to switch the current steers to the tags after getting the alignment set up, then put two new tires on the steers. My question is: should I go with the same Toyo tires as the other 6, or can I go to Michelins or Conti's through the FMCA tire program? I'm fairly sure neither of those will have the same characteristics as the Toyos, but is that going to be an issue, with the "odd" tires on the steering end?
My Dealer (Premier in Junction City) told me that Michelins are "softer" than the Toyos and he didn't recommend them. Personally, I've used ONLY Michelins on every other vehicle I've owned for decades and have been very happy with them.
Happy to have any advice from those who've used mis-matched sets, and others who've used Michelins on their CC's.

Don I took off eight 5-year-old Michelins because of severe sidewall checking. I went back to 8 of the Toyos that had come OEM, and love them after 4000 miles. I would strongly suggest you go with two more Toyos. Also check the enormous price differential on the two brands. Good luck and safe travels.

Premier put the same Toyo's on my 08 when I purchased 20 months ago. Ended up switching them to the tags and put Michelin's on the front. I still have the smart tire so got that all reprogrammed by Les Schwab.
Really didn't see much difference when I switched. Both brands are running fine.

For what it's worth. I just replace 6 tires on my coach. Out with the Michelin and a new set of Conti. Yes, a slightly firmer ride, but when your bouncing down the "excellent" highways we have you have a better feel and more control. Once you load up your coach, just how much weight are you carrying? A WHOLE LOT, say, 5,000 pounds on each tire, or more. Just my view.

I have Michelins on the front steers and Continentals on the back (I'm happy with this setup). To me it seemed the Toyo was a little softer ride (a little). The Continentals seem to dig in more off-road but on the highway they've been great. Shop around I found the same tires at two different places with a $200 difference.

As long as all of the tires on a full axle are the same, should not be a problem. For example, when we changed from 12R'S TO 295/80'S, we had two out of our 8 tires that were about 20 months old. We moved those 12R's to the Tag position, and are running the 295/80's on the Steers and Drives.

The tires we replaced were Michelin XZE*'s, which wore well, and I felt provided a bit extra toughness due to their sidewalls being designed to handle curb contacts:)! But, they sure road rough on the steers.

We went with Michelin XZA2's this time, and they do ride a bit nicer then the XZE*'s did.

Good luck to you on your choice. (An again, just my opinion that I would not want to put too many miles on that damaged tag tire. No way to know if heat build up from the scrubbing, compromised the integrity of the tire. Not sorry to repeat that $.02, as I always recommend being extra cautious when it comes to tire safety:)!).
