I agree, but I sure wish it would include RVs in terms of heights and road conditions for the RV. For driving the car, where I live in Southern California, I wish it would include time to destination using car pools. We use it almost daily and recommend it to many others. None better, with those two flaws.

On the other hand, because over 30 million Wazers are uploading road conditions, if you were in Houston, Waze would probably help you get around town, and anywhere in the US it will automatically reroute you if there is a problem on your current route.

The old Microsoft Streets and Trips had a large POI which included low bridges. I still use it

We have 3 off them but my choice is WAZE on phone or iPad. Little tricky some times in town, it thinks you are in a car. It for warns you of road hazards, wrecks, and police. It is real time. Also have the Good Sam model but tough to keep updating.

I agree Wazes is one of the best for autos. I would caution using it to guide a MH in a new, unknown area. It doesn't know you need wide turns, normal lane width, 12' high or more clearance. I remember a news story a year or so ago down in LA, neighbors were up in arms because Wazes was routing commuters down their narrow, one lane wide road.

Waze helped us thru a traffic jamb from a bad accident going thru Fort Collins, CO from the North, heading to the State Park at Boyd Lake. And yes, it did take us down a few roads that would have been better for an auto. A few times I elected not to follow the directions, my wife had the app running on her phone. And our Garmin DEZL (Non RV Mode - as I just don't trust it either...) constantly recalculated as we drove. So we had a visual I could see on the map, and her looking on her phone too. Waze was much quicker at realizing I was not on the road they recommended, and would provide recovery alternates much faster then the Garmin did.

All and all, we feel it saved us a good 70 minutes of gridlock on I25 South.

Like any tool, it is ONLY A TOOL... The person driving, with of course help from the navigator, need to make the final decisions on 'To turn, or not to turn - that is the question!'.

I have never heard of the GPS that you are talking about? I used my Magellan for years until I found GOOGLE Maps on my phone. It has been very reliable, but as with many, it thinks you are driving a car. We all have the option to buy a GPS designed for trucks and buses.

WE have a Garmin 760, like it, need to read the instructions, because I believe it can do more than I am currently using it for.

We have a Garmin RV 760. It allows you to put in the height and length of your vehicle. It gives plenty of warning to turn so you can be in the correct lane. Example is it says be in either of the two left lanes long before you need to be there. We really like it.

The Rand McNally/Good Sam-branded GPS has all the entries for an RV's
size, clearance, etc. After figuring out the "logic" of its menu
system, I am able to use it to good advantage.

I have seen them for sale at truck stops, but if I were shopping for one, I would goggle it. They are more expensive than others. I would look at Wal mart on line, amazon and eBay.

The secret to all of these navigation aids, is to keep the 'Thill of adventure' within you.... Never know where, or how, they may direct your travels:)! (And not trying to get off onto a bashing session here, as we all have read of the 'YOU WANT ME TO GO WHERE?' or 'YOU TOOK ME TO 15 miles to go 3 miles!' like posts. )

Their a tool in the tool box, and hopefully the majority of time the tool between my ears - overrides when appropriate:)!

When it comes to these type devices, I follow the old X-Files saying 'Trust no one...'.

Yes they are amazing but do not put brain in neutral.

One I have found is when I used to travel to area for work and use paper maps I could find my way around pretty good after a couple days. Now with GPS after a week I still have no idea of the area and moving around in it.

Suggest you use as many different varieties as make you comfortable. Also, going the same route multiple times will also make you more comfortable.
