Low PSI for Brakes and AUX...

Yahoo Message Number: 112188
Hello All,
We have a 2000 CC Affinity B&B 5769. Almost 2 weeks ago leaving Alamosa, CO the PSI dropped to 90 for all three indicators. Made it to Fairplay, CO to visit with friends. Pulling in to a space riding the brakes PSI dropped to below 60 and the red warning lights came on just before we made a full stop. Stayed for 3 nights and check for leaks, found none. Did a test idle wherein all three gauges read about 116PSI and let it sit overnight. Next morning front and rear brakes read 115PSI and the Aux was at 0. Started and Aux came up to 115PSI. Once I released the parking brake and back up all readings fell to 70PSI. Spoke to Kevin Waite and he told us to call Butch in FL. We did and he suggested to make it to a repair facility in Colorado Springs. Spoke to CAT and they only work on RV's in Pueblo, CO. All RV Parks in and around Colorado Springs are full. Only place available was in Cripple Creek KOA, and we made it. Only problem, 9,600 elevation. Next morning we were given an alternate repair facility in Colorado Spring. Spoke to the owner and we made it using the jake most of the way down.. They look and the problem and stated we needed a new compressor, drier, govenor, etc. Parts were not available until Tuesday. Had to go to the Pueblo KOA. All PSI were in the mid 60's.
Once back at the repair facility ran into another problem as our compressor bolts are inside the C12 and they had to order front timing cover gasket. As a result we got a hotel room for the night. Next day the repairs ran into the night and the owner drove our coach, came back and stated that all PSI readings never read above 90. The did have hookups and we stayed the night. Next morning, started and reading's while parked ran 116. Tech came and did some more test, then backed our coach up to run additional test. Pulled it out onto a side street and did not have the coach at ride height so he put a hole in the pan. Shut the engine down. Foreman came out, started rig and quickly put in on the lift and they fixed the oil pan.
I called Butch and he graciously agree to have a conference call with the tech and foreman. Reviewed the problem and the items replaced and told the to do a static test. This was done and all readings were about 116PSI, keeping in mind that we are at about 7,000 elevation. Test results, brakes lost only 1 PSI and the Aux dropped to 62PSI. Coach still maintained ride height. This was last Friday and we decided that we are over two weeks late in our next job and drove to Seibert, CO, our current location. All PSI stayed in the low to mid 70's. We will visit with Butch once we get to a lower elevation.

Questions/Comments
Why does the pressure drop 40 plus PSI when we release the parking brake?
We have spent 4K and have the same results.
We have the Silverleaf Class Dash.
Any and all recommendation will be greatly appreciated.
We are traveling to Branson, MO. Any suggested repair facilities?
Our kids and grandkids are in CO and we have never had a problem/concerns on PSI levels.

Thanks so much,

You've been hoodwinked, the loss is only on release it's probably a maxi airpot or fitting, if it was a air compressor you would not build air at all.

I would recommend Thomas a d sons in Springfield . They abought 50 miles north of Branson and they know their business. Ask for Chris, he is one of the owners. They are best in the area . I would suggest you call ahead get an appointment. While you are there visit Lamberts Home of the Throwd Rolls. You won't regret it.

Corky, Branson Motorcoach Services is close by and can probably meet your needs. If you can make it to Springfield my first choice would be Fabick Cat. We lived in Branson 8 years and Fabick was our go-to shop. _-Call me if you have a question. 515 708-3391'

It sounds like you have a bad brake release diaphragm (pancake) in one or the rear brake chambers.

When you release the parking brake air enters the release portion and releases the spring. If that pancake fails it will not build air pressure.

I want to Thank everyone for their valuable comments. This group is Awesome.

Special Thanks to Robert for calling me and provided step by step instructions that highlighted the cause. You were all correct as the loss of PSI was coming from the right rear dual. Getting it all fixed tomorrow. My wife wrote an awesome email/letter to company that diagnosed the loss of air incorrectly. It's my sense that they will come to an agreeable solution.
