Cabinet repaint.

Getting ready to re-paint my interior oak cabinets and wondered what is the best material to use. Are they lacquered? Varnished? Shellacked ? I was going to use semi gloss marine spar varnish but thought there might be a problem with Lacquer... Help....

From my background a varnish was used. Lacquer have a tendency to craze/crack. Also lacquers will dissolve easily with solvent but only dull and soften a varnish. Your choice of a spar varnish is about the best choice for the project.
Keep the windows open if your doing the recoat inside.
Getting my Magna ready for full timing. 6 new tires tomorrow. Have 5 new batteries, flat panel tvOS, tuned up the generator. Going thru all the systems. Have to wait 6 weeks for the new frig. Hope to get in a couple of shakedown trips this month.

Hi Steave, on our 2000 magna i rework some of our wood, we have walnut and i used hi gloss tung oil,3 coats and it looks just like the rest of the wood, easy to use and to tuch up if needed Charles 5886

Before you go through all that work consider trying these products. Can be found at Home Depot and Lowes. 7 or 8 dollars a piece. It will take some elbow grease but I've done my cabinets and am well pleased. Like new!

Hi,i used the tung oil on mostly new wood and it matches perfect plus it is water resistant, i made a bar shelf at the end of the din table, and i used it to tuch up exting wood and i just take a mild scotch bright pad first good luck call if you need any more info Charles828=2736099 2000 magna5886
