Fresh Water Tank Drain

Opened the valve to dump fresh water tank (about 1/2 full), and was only slowly dripping from valve, now stopped completely. Do these valves eventually give out or do you think there is an obstruction in the tank or water line for draining? Thanks all!

Yes these valves do go bad sometimes (Not cheap either, but I can get them if needed)

I'm unclear on why turning on the water pump would increase the speed at which the water drained. My understanding is that the drain valve is located at a low point in the water tank so gravity can drain it down, not upstream on the pressure side of the pump. Am I wrong?

Should have separate drain lines, tank , cold water, hot water. So turning on the pump will speed the process but be careful not to run the pump dry

Jim, if your coach is like mine, #12153, built just after yours, there is the gravity one just like you said, and it is slow. There is a second drain, the drain lever is just to the right if the pump, you can just see it, get your head close to the opening. Once you open that one, turn on you pump at the wet bay and you'll really drain more water. You need to stay with it until the water about stops and the pump gurgles, turn off the pump and close that drain. Watch it, there is another lever just beyond. That one lets water out too, but should stay closed.

Sounds like air lock to me. Maybe open the fill tube cap and see if that helps. Maybe the small screen below the fill tube in clogged. Just my 2 cents.....

Lee: I'll check that out. Draining by flipping the switch in the wet bay took about an hour with the tank full. Not handy when filling and rinsing to chlorinate.

I was able to get out and flush the fresh water tank by filling and draining this morning. I was surprised to find a manual fresh water drain lever just as described. Very interesting since I've never seen it referenced in the manuals. There is a hot water drain right next to it. I'm not sure why they engineered a separate drain beside the electric valve drain that is literally right next to it. Perhaps to help in blowing out the system for winterizing? Regardless, I opened the valved and turned on the electric pump and it did pump out the fresh water tank quite quickly. With both the gravity drain and the pump side drain open the 100 gallon tank emptied in about 30 minutes.

For those of you who don't know where the lever is, you can see it (and the associated hot water lever) if you look through the access door for the water filter, down and to the right. There are blade levers, one blue and one red for Cold and Hot water respectively. Turn on the electric pump and open the Blue lever to drain the system. Photo attached.
