Good Sams /rv Insurance

I received a quote today for RV Insurance from the Good Sams Insurance Agency that seems too good to be true. About 1/3 less than my renewal with Nationwide, due 10 Dec. If you have positive or negative comments regarding the coverage by Good Sams Insurance Agency please let me know.

Denny,
I know nothing about them but have you or anyone else here has gone to USAA they do a lot of advertising for Veterans on TV and wondered if anyone had any input while on the subject.

We bought it this year and found the same thing. Had a claim on our toad for $2500.00 and they just had me send pics of the truck and they sent a very ample check. Very nice to deal with

I use the Hartford thru AARP and the price is reasonable and their service was very good. I got caught in a squeeze on a bridge in Colorado and did some damage to 3 compartment doors which needed repair. A year later while in Montana on a state highway where we met about 1 vehicle every 3 miles, a loaded gravel truck went by and put a 1 inch rock into our windshield. That had to be replaced and they also covered that claim. I have not had any unusual jack up in rates and would not hesitate to use them.

As info, you must be a member of AARP to purchase a policy but you do not need to be a member to renew if you decide to drop your AARP membership.

USAA works with Progressive to offer RV coverage. I believe this has existed for the past 15 years. I got several quotes and they were by far the lowest. I just renewed as the premium dropped several hundred dollars.

Confirm USAA won't insure RV's. Or Motorcycles. We've been with them for 45+ years, and are very disappointed in this. Progressive is who they refer you to, but we found progressive's rates way out of line. We ended up with GEICO, and I can tell you that their rates are very competitive and their service is EXCELLENT. Highly recommended!

I have AAA (8 Years) used 2 times. Once for a flat and more recently the coach would turn over but not start.
Called AAA I wanted the coach to be put on a flatbed trailer not pulled by a wrecker. They did not have a provider in my area so I Called Ring power(Catapiller dealer 70 miles away) they recommended a tow company. All said and done 1080.00 later found a ground wire to computer not making contact. Had the coach serviced while their. Sent the bill to AAA Had a reimbursement check in a couple weeks. I will renew my AAA membership again.

I used State Farm in the past because we had our cars and homeowners with them. When we bought a newer RV the quote from State Farm was triple. I used the FMCA insurance program and ended up with Progressive who was a third of State Farm for the same coverage. I'm about to renew with them for the third year.

I had one claim for a windshield in the first year which did not affect our rate.

I had a '95 Fleetwood Dream that a large Pine tree wiped out Sept.5 of last year. Two years ago I went with Good Sam insurance. Now, Good Sam is actually just another insurance agent, but they gave me a decent price and Placed me with Allied/nationwide .I was hoping to get 20K at best but after they totaled it, their appraiser called me and said that since I had an Agreed Value policy they would be paying me what I paid for this coach 16 years ago less a 100 dollar deductible. Needless to say I am very pleased with the service I received from Allied /Nationwiode

For what it's worth...

I've had comprehensive Progressive Ins for 2 years now on my coach. When I was based out of Colorado, it was about $1,200 per year with a coach value of $48k. When I "moved" to Texas, it went up to $1,700 per year. Both the full-timers package.

Just talked to Geico, and they were about the same price ($1,002 per 6 months), but would require I also have my car with them also (about $300 per year, included in that $1k).

One perk of Progressive is that my comprehensive coverage continues while I'm in Mexico (have to get Mexico liability), and with Geico there is no coverage at all.

Okay, so I just changed my insurance from Progressive - $1,700 per year, to GoodSam - $879 per year. This was for full coverage with raised amounts ($250/$500k) on all counts, full timer policy. I also moved my car insurance to them as I saved $40 over USAA, and it decreased the RV policy even further as well.

I insured the Motorhome, 2004 intrigue, new Accura MDX, Dodge Ram 2500 diesel Pickup, Our house and the rent house, for less than insuring the motor home the 2012 CR-v and the diesel Pick-up, with Foremost a branch of Farmers and Farmers. I saved $2000.00 over USAA, Meyer-Steves and Farmers separately. Next year I might try going back totally with USAA because they are now allowing sons of WWII veterans to enroll. TWI 2004Intrigue 11731 PS This is full replacement insurance by the way.

Tom,

Note that USAA will no longer insure RVs, so you can't bundle all your vehicles with them. They will refer you to Progressive, who I found to be very expensive. We ended up with Geico, and are pretty well satisfied, but I'm looking at switching to FMCA's program, which looks like it's going to save us more money...
