Ceiling Light Trim Rings

Our "new to us" '07 Intrigue has 38 ceiling/sofit lights with stainless steel trim rings. The rings are falling off like crazy when driving and in some cases, bringing the lenses with them.. Is there a fix or worst scenario, replacement for this situation. The dealer we bought it from silicone glues them back in place. This doesn't seem like a good solution to us. Thanks

Each metal ring has 3 small bumps. They each will slide into each of the 3 notches on the ceiling plastic ring. Then you have to twist the ring 1/4 inch or so. You're done.

Check the ring to figure out which way to turn. This is not always easy to do. Standing on a short step stool will help, unless you're really tall. A non-slip glove can help. Get it right . . . they'll stay in place. Mine are now staying in. I have the same coach as you.

Lee,
Have to admit I haven't spent much time working with the problem. I get the bumps engaging the plastic but have suspected some of the plastic rings are chipped and broken so there is nothing left for the rings to engage. Will spend some more quality time with it. Thanks.

If you look at the trim rings you will see 3 very small dimples on the inside of the rings. These dimples line up with slots in the light housing. over time, because of the heat from the lamps and from the movement of the coach they tend to loosen up. I've taken a SMALL needle nose pliers and very gently, and very slightly bent the outer edge of the ring right where the dimple's are, towards the center of the ring. This gets the dimple just a little closer to the slots. Align the dimples so that they line up with the slots and then rotate the housing (called a bezel) clockwise, like a gas cap or a radiator cap on a car. you should feel it tighten. This generally fixes the rings so they are a little tighter. The company that made them is out of business so you can't really get replacements. You can probably get the little frosted glass diffusers from a glass shop, having them cut to size. There are other fixtures that are the same size, so eventually you can replace the whole fixture. Here is a link to something that I think might fit the same hole (but I haven't measured yet). http://www.adventurerv.net/halogen-light-nickel-mounting-collar-p-3789.html

You shouldn't need masking tape, hot glue, elmers, duct tape or anything else the former owners of my coach used to stick the rings up with.
