Slide out/in entry step cover

Our binds up and bearly moves. How can I eliminate all the binding?

Lee. I ended up pulling the cover out. Extend the cover with the door open and you will see the bolt under the step cover to remove it. Clean all sliding parts with a 3m pad and use a graphite lubricant. Takes about 1/2 hour to an hour tops. Reassemble and you are good to go. Lmk if you get stuck

In my case the gear rod was bent and I ended up replacing the rod and the motor. The motor and rod were both manufactured by Knudson in Junction City, Kevin Waite can supply both if needed.

Jesse, I had to replace my motor a couple of years ago. Since our coaches are coaches are 10 years apart
I'm not certain this will be the same. I had to crawl under my coach to take out the four bolts that hold the motor
In place. I then pulled out the step about six inches (actually to the end of the electrical cord that is attached to the
Motor. This gave me enough room to unbolt the rod that is attached to the front of the step. Once unbolted the step
Will pull out giving you access to the motor to unplug and replace. I did have to tweak the the rod and new motor
a little as it was a little different from the original. Was not hard but time consuming because of the tweaking. Put
It on, try it, take it off, tweak, put it on take it off a few time.

Access on my 07 Allure is very similar to what the others have said, once the step cover is disconnected from the gear rod and the step cover removed I had access to the motor. When the step cover is removed and with the motor still connected you'll see if there's a problem with the motor and or the gear rod with activating the switch.

Thanks Dave!, I'll take a crack at taking a look at my step cover this weekend then report back for all the owners with older coaches like mine to see if they indeed match up with the newer models. Thanks again.

Lee checking in. Having started this thread I wanted to concluded that you folks have all been right on! My setup, as I now know, is identical to the photos provided. The secret to the process was how to get at the mechanicals. In my case the push/pull rod was binding up with the motor gear. Once I lubricated the rod and worked it back/forth the problem was resolved.
