Generator Tray Linkage broken / bent

When pulling our coach out of our storage unit I think the coach wasn't fully aired up and when we went over the lip of the doorway the linkage that drives the generator tray out and in got bent. I didn't specifically hear it happen, but it was working fine last time we had the coach out and now its not working fine. We also had it serviced at the CAT dealer and it could possibly have happened there but either way, it doesn't work now.

It looks like the linkage that drives the tray is a long screw that turns via the generator drive motor to move the tray in and out. There is a cover over the screw (like a metal tube, probably to protect it from dust).. We are still out on the road, but when we get back, likely we will need to replace the dust cover tube and possibly the screw that is inside of it.

Does anyone know who makes / made that tray / linkage where we may be able to get replacement parts?

When our generator tray actuator failed, it took some poking around but I found the direct replacement from the fellow who supplied them in the first place. Byron Knudtson of Knudtson Manufacturing at 541-998-8456. He's in Junction City, just a few blocks from Country Coach/Winnebago and Premier RV.
It's pretty easy to get out, as you've probably discovered if you know the screw drive tube is tweaked. On the problem was the gear motor. Fortunately the gear motor and the screw drive are different sub-assemblies. So if one is bad you can replace it without having to replace the other. Our gear motor was $262. Don't know what the screw drive price is.

I crawled under the coach and took a long look. Seems that the entire Genset Tray was bent. When we had our tires rotated at Bauer Built they had one of their inexperienced guys jack the coach up. Poor guy thought it was a car. They jacked against the tube, bent it and then, realizing it was a bad spot, moved the jack to the corner of the Generator Rail Assembly and jacked there. They were able to lift the coach, but the Generator Assembly was pushed up against the actual Frame of the coach, bending the whole tray. I have a truck body/frame guy looking at it to see if it can be straightened. Otherwise I'll be buying a new one. I talked to Bauer Built about it. They recognized the mistake immediately and are going to take care of any damage. Seems like the lesson here is (the same as always) before hooking up/jacking/etc. Look once, look twice and if necessary get someone else to check your work before you commit. ESPECIALLY if you are unsure at all.

Hi Jim, I concur completely. About 6 months ago I had to have my 05 Allure towed when the front ride height adjuster gave out. The tow company picked the coach up from what they thought was the frame but

Thanks Dave - See my post under "resolved". I'm going to order a new motor and screw drive. They were able to straighten the tray so that it works.
