Fluid spewing

Hi Group,

Last evening we were going over tehachapi. When we stopped we saw that the left rear of the rv and the left side of the toad had lots of splatter. It's hard to say what color because it was covered in dust. There is no sign of a leak and all temps are good. Any ideas?

Years ago I had a seal go out on the fan controller. Trans fluid all over back and toad. You might check the reservoir that hold the fluid for the fan controller and power steering. Just a thought.

I had a sensor on the injection pump go bad spread a fine mist of diesel that collected dust. TWInsall 2004Intrigue 11731. Then again I had the site glass fail on the coolant tank, same issue. Another time a hose from the plastic pan under the ISL 400 spread engine oil everywhere. A cracked coolant hose, too.

I agree with Marie, hydraulic fluid. Look at where the fan is attached to the boxy base, sorta viewable from the rear left side on top of the hydraulic pump (look for a sizable bolt); but best seen from the floor opening in your bedroom at the base of the closet doors (groan). There is a good sized bolt on top that can come loose due to vibration (happened to us - lost 12 qt. fluid). Also could be hydraulic fluid for your rear slides . . . are they functioning?

The issue Lee refers to just happened to me. Big nut on top of fan motor loosened some and it blew hydraulic fluid all over engine and toad. It stopped leaking when cold, so hard to find the leak. With bedroom floor up, you can check it.

Or it could be a hydraulic hose that rubbed thru and starting a pinhole leak. But you should be able to see that easily.

Had that happen to us. Seal between transmission and drive shaft leaking because bolts had backed out.
