I'm putting in a residential frig and and have a Norcold 1200 with a newer Amish cooling unit and a sensor that shuts down the frig if it would over heat. Can be picked up in Ormond Beach Fl at Classic Coach Works. Asking 1000 A great frig but doing a major remodel

What is anyone's experience with cold weather and freezing pipes. I'm headed to Florida and tonight is supposed to hit 24 degrees. Coldest I have seen so far is 28 with no issues. My rig has a heated water bay but I have no idea how well it works.

We've been to -5 degrees for a few nights, then it got balmy up to the positive single digits, while at Lake Muncho's Strawberry Provincial Campground for 9 days of boon docking. It would warm up to the 30's, and two days up into the 40's during the day.

We'd supplement or solar and run the generator for a few hours in the AM, and had the electric element of the HydroHot, and electric floor tile heat on at that time. (The Inspire I believe usually has a Water Heater, but I think I recall they have a electric element too(?). The inside of the coach we kept warm by a combo of the Diesel fired Hydro Hot furnaces, and or a Heat Buddy. The first few days we'd see the lines to the kitchen sink frozen in the AM, so we started leaving the lower kitchen cabinet doors open, and that stopped them from freezing.

The Inspire is a fine coach, and you should have no problems with the furnace running, keeping all of your zones in good shape. You could also fire up the generator, and run a portable heater too. We've been known to set one on the floor of the kitchen pointing to the front of the cab, to help keep the chill out:)! And of course, more slides can mean more heat loss, so a 3 or 4 slide coach will work harder then our 2 slide unit:)!

It was 27 here at Seven Feathers RV Park in Oregon last night. We used just the one portable heater at 1500W overnight, and I turned on the rear zone of the Hydro Hot fed furnace, at about 5:00AM to knock a bit of chill out of the rear area, fed by electric element only.

Travel safe, and have fun,
Smitty

We had a similar discussion with CC Support years ago when the were up and running. Their response was that they design their coaches down to 10 degrees F. The coldest night I experienced was 5 degrees. I had no lights or heaters in the water bay. The only thing was the Hydro Hot ran almost continuously the whole night to maintain about 68 degrees. After that we added an electric space heater to help out. Also I can't speak to the external ice maker line as we removed it almost as soon as we got the coach. As full timers we needed the freeze space more than ice cubes.

HIGHLY, HIGHLY Recommend stuffing a blanket or sleeping bag in between the compartment door and the wet wall. The insulation will protect the outside connections. We didn't do that and froze the outside connections and water pump slightly last year while on the road in 0-10 Deg. weather. Stuffing a sleeping bag in between the wet wall and the compartment door insulated and thawed out. The basement should stay pretty warm (you can check from your SL panel) except for where the wet wall was exposed.

Great tip Jim on stuffing the sleeping bag between compartment door and wetbay wall.

Also, I concur with your data and findings on temps and fuel consumption. I am using a HydroHot 200-09 in a 2006 Magna, and enjoy the same efficiency and behavior.
