HWH control and Ride Height Valves

I am having a problem with the rear valves again and don't want to take the coach in until I get home.

In the past, way too many times, I have pulled the 7.5 fuse in the HWH control panel in front of the passenger. seat. Except for a bit of a problem getting to it I don't mind using this process for the next month.

I read within the last year where some of you pull a different fuse in front of the driver seat in that fuse block. This would be much easier and I would appreciate any info on this.

Once at ride height, I think you can pull the plug in the back of the control panel and it will stay there. That's what HWH told me once for my coach.

On my 2000 Magna, I pulled the 7.5 amp fuse, used an inline fuse holder and wired a switch in series with all of that. I put the switch in the forward passenger side bay so it easily accessible. The important thing to watch out for is not to have the switch in a position that it might accidentally get turned off when things are normal. I also labelled the switch so a future owner would not be at a loss as to what that switch does.

In the fuse box, outside under the driver's seat. look for #68. It controls a number of things but one of them is the HWH controller. It should be a 7.5 amp fuse.

Get the coach to ride height and then pull the fuse.

When CC switched to the then newer digital control system the control box was moved to the bay under the driver's side window. The 7.5 amp fuse was also moved to the engine fuse box in the same compartment. If memory serves this happened somewhere around 2004.

Here's a very simple way to "freeze" coach height. I've thought about adding a switch in the cockpit to implement this workaround in case it might be needed again in the future. But then, why borrow trouble?

thought I would give an update. I am back to pulling the 7.5 fuse in the HWH control box. I tried all other ideas without luck, My 2001 Intrigue does not have fuse blocks in the bay under the driver. My two blocks are on the fire wall by my left foot. Pulled fuse for wire #68, labeled step controller, and it only stopped the announce message. Had on effect on steps or HWH. I also tried grounding the #23 white wire to the Park brake switch. It grounded because that light on the dash stayed lit all the time. As soon as I started the engine and released the brake the coach tried to go to ride height. Not sure why that did not work and will try again at a different time. I know we use to ground that switch when it went bad so we could get the coach to go into Travel Mode. I sure wish it did what that Link and idea from Butch indicated it should do. I know I grounded it.

So back to pulling the 7.5 and trying to find me the inline fuse holder that Pete mentioned. This coach drives like pure junk when these valves mess up and overriding only makes it somewhat tolerable. I had those new Koni shocks installed and when this coach is set up like it was designed it drives like a dream on any type of road. The way it is now you have to be up on that wheel.

I just wired an automotive toggle switch in series with the 7.5 amp fuse and mounted it in the lower left dash. 20 minute job. It does kill the step controller, too, so make sure step isn't out cuz that's where it will stay while switch is off.

Our 2002 Magna ride height can be controlled 2 ways. Pull the fuse to #68 Yellow wire at the fuse block under the driver side bay or where ever your fuse block is located. 7.5 amp fuse as stated above. Only 7.5 amp fuse in our panel. The other way is to ground out the brake solenoid. Ours is the middle solenoid in the driver side bay with white wire #21 going to it. Ours has a sister white wire going to the HWH manifold. Ground the screw on the solenoid to any ground with alligator wire clips. If you have a voice module in your coach, it will warn you that "emergency brake is engaged" when you shift out of neutral. IMPORTANT, the coach will go to travel mode if you do not press the level button once. After that it will stay in whatever orientation you want until the engine is shut down. This method does not interfere with steps or anything else. I use this method all the time to snuggle our coach under our carport with only 1 inch clearance in dumped and tag up mode. It is also useful if you ever get high centered on motor mounts in a severe dip in the road. Just dump the front and raise the rear. I have to do this every time we go up our driveway.

I stopped by Buddy Gregg in Knoxville on my way home to look at the RH valve problem I have been having. I have a bent component in the drive axle that has some effect on the rear passenger side valve. They can adjust it but it will not stay. . Having to get parts from Neway supplier. I will be glad to get this problem solved. I did find the fuse holder extension I needed at Amazon. I can use this for the 7.5 HWH fuse and not have to get inside the control box to pull it.
