Older Dometic Thermostat for A/C

Yahoo Message Number: 118567
Hey All-
Does anyone have an old 4 or 5 button Dometic "Comfort Control" thermostat, perhaps if you upgraded to a newer type thermostat?
I could use an old one to salvage a few of the push switches to fix mine.
Or if you know where I could get one of these new (4 button only). I've had good luck disassembling the push switches to make them work again.

I just replaced my old 4 button with a rebuilt unit I found on E-bay. It is from a guy that rebuilds them and he wants your old one in exchange. The "new" works great!!

Wes,

Just use some momentary push button switches from digi-key or any outlet and solder wires to the pads from the old switches. Drill holes to accommodate in the Tstat. They'll last forever.

Wes -
See my message 105832 from a couple of years ago. It provides a couple of sources for the switches. They were about $1 a piece at the time. I got mine from Mouser Electronics in Mansfield, TX, just south of Fort Worth. It was an easy fix and the thermostat was working perfectly when I replaced the AC's and thermostat about a year ago. Ordering new switches may be easier than using older switches and possibly having to deal with preexisting problems. Have fun!

Also more info on the relationship between the thermostat and AC units. They use simple phone RJ45 Jacks. The jacks inside the grill of the AC units themselves, accessible from below by removing the grill to say clean the filter. This RJ45 hacks and Female To Female connectors, can build up condensation moisture and actually get mold at times. Adding a yearly cleaning with electrical cleaner, and a Q-Tip light dab of dielectric grease on the Male contacts - can avoid unusual behavior between the Thermostat and the AC units:)!

Best to all, have fun, be safe,
