NEW!! Help with some cracks on a Magna I'm looking at!!! (Read 2 times)

Looking to purchase a 2001 Magna.

I need some help understanding if this is normal wear and tear. Or is this a deeper issue that will return because of unseen or underlying problems (water damage or abuse or something else).

This first image is of the drivers side front cap at bottom of windshield between windshield and the second window I see a crack. Not sure if it is paint or fiberglass??? Serious or fixable and wont have further issues???

This second Image is on the passenger side. The visor where it meets the front cap is cracking pretty bad. Again fixable and no further worries or from deeper issues???

If I purchase, it would be something I plan to keep long term. So I want to know if these problems are going to get worse or if its just from over the years of sun beating on the gel coat?

Hi Mike. I have a 1997 Magna so your situation may be different.

Obviously there has been some movement to cause those cracks. The passenger side crack appears to have been filled with a patch material in the past. Obviously that patch failed.

On my Magna the front of the coach skin is supported by a network of square tubing. IF the front end has been impacted it's quite possible that supporting structure was damaged. You wouldn't see this from the outside although those cracks may be an indication of a lack of support underneath. I would suggest you look closer at the supporting structure to see if there is damage to that area.

If you have a front run box with the front roll out generator it's pretty easy to inspect that area. Otherwise you will need to crawl under the front lip.
