Hatch Handle Cleaning

What do you use to maintain the black appearance of the basement door handles? I believe one detailer used a silicone spray. Good or bad?

How do you replace the handle on the Allure Aluminum hatch doors? Drill through the aluminum door backing to get a hold of the nuts for removal and replacement? One of the nylon bushings on the handle pivot is broken.
