Calgary Stampede

Quick question for the group - Have any of you attended the Calgary Stampede? If you did, did you go with a group/tour or can you just go and attend on your own?
We have contemplated taking it in but have noticed so many ads for tours that thought maybe that was the best way to go. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Kathy - We went about 10 years ago with a telephone company convention - the same group is going this year although we are no longer members - some friends are planning on going and we are seriously thinking of going - it is just a big fair - but the wagon races are a real kick - not sure but we are going to risk just getting tickets assuming we do go - we are not really in to tours - you need to plan ahead for them.

We attended the Stampede a couple of years ago. You should make your reservations ASAP because the campgrounds fill up. We stayed at two differernt CGs both during and long after the Stampede. Can't remebver the names, but both were good. The one out west of town was older, easy to get in and out of but, it did not have great electric power, we had to run our gen. a couple of times. The one south of town was great, large sites, very clean, excellent power.

Don't miss Banff and Jasper, they are outstanding!
