Steel Surcharge

Just looked at a couple of new coaches at Guarantee here in Junction City. There is now a "steel surcharge" that ranges from $3500 to over $6000 that is added to the list price. Wonder what will be next.

Due to the price of steel being so high they are adding a surcharge. Other manufacturers are doing the same but just adding into the base price. CC is listing it seperate in hopes that steel prices will go down and can remove this charge in the future.

Our company is in the Metal Fabrication Business, mostly Aluminum, but we do make steel Products too. In the past 6 months our cost of steel has Doubled. With the Frame components of the Coaches made from steel. Somebody has to "Eat" the higher cost. You can bet it will not be the Stock Holders of National RV.

We can blame the Chineese for the steel prices, they are buying up all the steel and cement they can, and driving up prices. Steel and cement prices have doubled in the past month. They are also part of the reason oil is so high.
