Inspire 40' DaVinci

My husband and I are about to purchase the Inspire 40'DaVinci Motor Home and would be appreciative if we could hear from current or past owners of this model - as to
a. It's road handling ease...
b. its safety record - is the Dynomax structure stronger or safer in accidents than other coaches that you've owned?
c. have you received good service and support from country coach
while on the road...or have you been able to find help from other sources?

Thank you very much - we're really trying to make a decision between the Newmar line and the country coach line - so any comments would be very helpful...

I'm voting for the Inspire - sooooo I hope to be an active member shortly.

We have a '02 Country Coach Allure so I know nothing specific about an Inspire. However I can suggest some general items you may want to investigate. We have 2 slides and both had a bad case of electrolysis, which is caused by a small amount of electricity traveling between the aluminum trim around the slide and the steel frame. This "eats" the aluminum and causes the paint to bubble up as

the metal turns to a white powder under it. I have learned that this is a common problem with Country Coach products. A Country Coach employee told me that it happens, to some extent, to about 30% of their motorhomes.

We discovered it within the warrantee period so Country Coach covered the repairs under warrantee but it is a nightmare for a fulltimer.
It takes 2 week and you can't live in it. We were told it would take

2 days for both rooms at Buddy Gregg in Dallas. They did the bedroom and it took 2 weeks but they did a good job. The factory wouldn't

let them do the living room because they took so long to do the bedroom. (In fairness to Buddy Gregg, their time estimate was based on misinformation from Country Coach). Country Coach insisted we bring it to the factory for the living room because they could do it in 2 days. Well, it took them 2 weeks too and we got it back filthy, incomplete and, we discovered later, a really bad leak in the slide room.

Another problem was the hydraulic hoses that run the room extension mechanism. The hose fittings were faulty and every hose had to be replaced. That took 3 men a full day and they had to remove the cupboards and disassemble about everything on the slide side in both rooms. I have talked with some who didn't discover it until the hydraulic fluid had saturated the carpet and some of the furniture.
I think this problem was confined to about 3 years production and the Inspire may not even use this type of drive system but you may want to confirm that.

We have had to discover every problem with our coach ourselves.
Country Coach has never alerted us to check for any problems even though they knew that many coaches produced in the same or near the same year as ours were having the same problems. If one misses the warrantee expiration date they can be very difficult to deal with.

The good news is that the Dynomax chassis is a real truck chassis.
It is stable and capable. For that reason I will keep the Allure but I have to be honest ? I will never buy another Country Coach product.

I keep hearing that folks will have complaints and problems with any coach they buy so the important thing is to keep on top of things that go wrong so that you can get CC to back their warranty. I spent a few weeks at the factory for service in the spring and am returning after the homecoming for a second wave of service.

During the first visit I had 46 things that needed repair including a water leak caused by the person installing a new water filter, and a cracked tile caused by the person drying out the mess made by the flood from the water leak.

The current list contains over 30 items, some of which are repeats of those on the first list, but most of which are new.
I would be interested to hear how many problems others have had with their coaches during the first year. I feel as though I'm living in a scientific experiment.

Would I purchase another Country Coach product? Depends on how they treat me when I get to Junction City.

I had a list like that. I think the first warrantee list was nearly 50 items for our '02 Allure. Lazy Days' attitude was poor to indifferent. We went to Buddy Gregg for several things Lazy Days couldn't / wouldn't fix and they were very good but couldn't seem to

get accurate instructions from the Country Coach factory and, as I mentioned in a previous post, the factory wouldn't let Buddy Gregg

finish the slide room electrolysis problem but insisted we come to the factory.

The factory experience was the worst in our RVing history. I am actually glad the warrantee is over now. I will never, never go back to the factory. I would rather pay a repair facility that will have some respect for their customers.

I would love to hear from anyone who has had this problem: Buddy Gregg in Dallas had to paint the new trim around the slide room.
They masked off the coach next to the trim and when they removed the tape the original factory coach paint came right off with the tape! The painter has been painting RVs for 32 years and he had never seen such a thing. I called the factory to complain about my defective paint job and nearly fell off my chair when they told me that the painter had used the wrong masking tape! When I told the painter he could only shake his head in amazement. He was using 3M tape as I remember. It was the same tape he uses on everything else. Over the last year I have had 3 of the paint factory representatives look at it because of excessive chipping and then the masking tape event.
Some said they have seen these things happen before but not one can tell me why. (or will admit why ? a professional painter told me that if this type paint isn't applied properly the top coat and the

base coat will not bond and will chip very easily. We do have more chips than I have ever seen on any coach.) Not surprisingly, Country Coach has no intention of doing anything about it.

You have a major problem with your paint. If the painter can pull off the original factory finish, I think we should talk. Sounds like your unit is only 2 years old? You can call me at 1-614-298-1817 or 1-800-274-4266.

My experience with our 40' Inspire has not been a positive one. There have been many problems encountered from incomplete electrical connections from the factory, defective windsensor on patio awning, crud in the ice maker line, a leveling system that didn't seem to be calibrated correctly, a front door that is extremely difficult to open, a slide out that doesn't close flush but is cock-eyed, facia panelling that is bubbling, latches on bay doors that don't hold,...that's a partial list...and we are still finding problems. With regard to support from Country Coach...I've been given conflicting info on several occasions. The tech's still don't seem to be famiiar with the Inspire at all. Lead time to get your coach into the factory for repairs is 2 months or so.
