I bought the part and a strap wrench for $7. Then I purged the air and did it myself. The dryer cast about $35 as I recall. It took less than a half hour.

Hope there was more to it in your case.

There are two manufacturers of air dryers, Midland and Bendix.
If you have the Bendix it requires removing it, disassembling it, cleaning out the cannister and reinserting the new cartridge. $275 for a Bendix unit would be a very good price. I paid quite a bit more than that at a Cummins Center.

Mine is a Bendix unit. A rebuilt desicant filter (with core) was $47. I changed it myself. It took the better part of a Saturday.
If you do decide to do it yourself.....clamp the filter flange in a vise and then twist off the base plate (that is how the guy at Kenworth got mine loose....it was really tight). A strap wrench is worthless on the Bendix. Have fun.

Sorry won't make the Oyster Run in Anacortes this week end. We did our oyster thing last week on the Hood Canal.

Anacortes, WA?
We'll be flying Friday from Hurricane Charley bashed Punta Gorda, FL to SEATAC, then by car thru Anacortes out to our place on San Juan Is., WA. Looking forward to getting out of these winds and rain ..... hope there are no earthquakes while we're out there.

What's the oyster run? Is it RV related?
