I was told by the CC guy at LazyDays that the Lexa has been discontinued, of interest if you were thinking of buying new.

I don't think its listed for 2005 on the CC web page, but I might have missed it.

There was a rumor about eighteen months ago that the Lexa would

discontinued. At the time this was disclaimed but did in fact come

into effect.

I own a Lexa Oddessey. It is the bestest MH I believe I could have ever gotten. #1157? I have been told that you have to special-order them. I got mine in July 2002. Have had small problems with it that I could fix; with help from CC tech Support. Otherwise, it's a Dream to live in. I got the 42" plasma tv; instead of the 65" theater. Got other options too. Outside entertainment center, digital dash, smarttire, all electric, W/D, radieant heat. I Love This Coach!!! :>)

I do own a Lexa. If the right things have been done before taking delivery you will only experience problems that most people have with their coaches. Make sure new air bags were installed in the rear. Get them to install 3.0 Xantrex pure sine wave inverters. You can get a detailed report from CC as to what upgrades and warranty work has been done.

The new Affinty does look great and is a fabulous coach but you can probably make a better deal on the Lexa.

They have not quit making the Lexa. It is done on a special order basis only. Saw one being ordered.

There is a discussion on rv.net about a Lexa owner who broke down in Alaska. Apperantly his radiator malfunctioned and somehow leaked antifreeze into the transmission, which destroyed the transmission. His is a 2003. http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/21692774/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfmhttp://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/21692774/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfmhttp://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/21692774/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1.cfm

As far as iI know they have not built a Lexa since 2003. They were many electronic issues with the coach that had most of them back for major rework. There are a few 2003's on lots around the country that have been there for quite some time. I think Guaranty has had a couple of used ones for at least 2 yrs. I think that when someone gets serious and checks on them they back off. You would be way better off buying a good used Affinity or Magna. Whoever said they saw one being ordered was mistaken. It was either a Rhapsody or custom Affinity.
You can probably make a great deal on one but be very careful and have a great extended warranty or a hefty savings acct.

John, I own 2003 LEXA 6177. I purchased it in Oct. '07 from California Coach Company, whom acted as selling agents. I love the way the coach looks and drives, with independent front suspension and the C15. She's quite on the highway at any speed and pulls our Escalade as though it were a Mini. She has three slides - 42 footer - and is very livable.
All that said, here's what to look for in a used one, aside from all the issues one would have with any used coach: The Lexa has a Cat C15 that shares is cooling system with the Allison Transmission. It is an integrated aluminum unit. This integrated radiator/tranny cooler failed on our unit, with 35,000 miles on it, midway between Fairbanks and Anchorage, just three weeks ago.

The two normally separate fluids, tranny fluid and radiator coolant, mixed and entered both the engine and the transmission. This occurred suddenly and without warning and caused the instant destruction of the Allison Tranny. I have posted a complete detailed description of the incident on RV.net. Country Coach is aware of this faulty design and apparently other owners have experienced similar disaster. The cost of R&R of the tranny and cooler/radiator was $23,800.00. I had no expectations of CC paying for this failure but was angry when I found out that others have had similar experience and that a "revised" intergrated cooler has been designed to mitigate the problem. I was angry because, at the very least, CC should have warned other owners of the possible catastrophic failure and advised that a new part was available. Giving the coach owner an option of replacing the unit before it failed. This warning would have saved us at least $15,000.0 and a LOT of trouble!! I called CC but got no help. This failure on CC's behalf is unconscionable. Freightliner of Anchorage fixed it for $23,800.00.
The second issue is the passenger side fiberglass body panel. Our Lexa has the Dometic Refer/Freezer and thus a refer vent on the outside of the passenger side of the coach.
While simply sitting at Outdoor Restorts in Las Vegas we noticed what appeared to be a crack develop in the paint, leading from the lower rear corner of that vent and extending diagonally down and toward the rear tires, about 2 inches long. We attempted to fix the crack but it returned and grew so that over a two week period it lengthened to about 10 inches and deepened to the point that you could slip the edge of a credit card into it, clear down to the wood underlayment. I called CC but got no assistance - I was the third owner.
Wheeler RV of Las Vegas repaired it for just over $2K.
The third issue.... when we took delivery of the coach in Vegas we hooked up to city water system, a proceedure that the owners manuel indicates is okay. The first night hooked-up the fresh water supply to the kitchen tap burst, causing a flood from under the galley cabinetry. As it turned out the coach had no pressure-check valve. Fortunately the burst occurred where I was able to get to it and repair it without too much effort. We ended-up removing all the carpeting and replacing it with tile.
The final issue (thus far) is with the awning facias. These are unique flush fitting metal farings that cover the Girard Awnings. I've not seen this particular awning arrangement on any other coach and these opening fairings combined with the coach's flush fitting windows really makes the coach "slick!" Those facias are each opened and closed with three little motors. One of our motors has quit. Replacement thus far has been a problem.... we are working on it as I write.
Aside from these issues we really enjoy motor homing. If I had it all to do over I would have purchased an extended warranty. Be careful here though; Good Sam's CSP, for example, specifically excludes all radiator issues.....

Cheers, Mel

I have been considering the purchase of a 2003 Lexa. I would appreciate any comments regarding the quality/reliability of these coaches. Did CC only make these in 2003?

Thank-you in advance

I believe they started in 2002 and they only made 15 total. Early on there were many electrical issues and the price was close enough to the Prevost to lead most to the next level. They were between the Magna and Prevost conversion in the CC model line. I see one often where I store my coach - sweet unit.

I own a 03 lexa. I had them change the inverters to two 3000 pro sine wave inverters and this seem to correct the electric problems.bough it new in 2004 and have 118,000 miles on it now.

Hi Fred,

We bought our Lexa about 3 years ago. We love it! If you are buying from a dealer - here are some things to negotiate. If no dealer is involved, have these things checked out.
Windows - make sure the side windows close tightly enough to seal. Check where the glass attaches to the hinges for gaps.
Inverters - I still have the original's, but I will swap them out before I do any significant off grid camping.
Hydraulic PTO pump - Make sure it has a wet kit. If not, have the pump inspected, and a wet kit installed.
Radiator/Transmission cooler - I still have the original, and I worry about it constantly. I'm exploring options, like bolting on a separate transmission cooler, or just replacing the whole thing - before it fails.
If you like high definition TV, make sure the front TV has component video cables. Mine didn't. Had to run new cables all they way to the bedroom. My original dish was a Motosat Executive dish. I bolted a new Motosat HD right on to the original mount, but I had to run a couple of new cables.
Make sure the Onan Coach Command is working. If not, consider replacing it with a Silverleaf. My Onan had some initial problems, but once I found the guy that designed it, and replaced a couple of parts, it has been working perfectly. Make sure the fuse that feeds the main box is the right size, and do not use a larger one! A low voltage condition, with a larger fuse, will fry the main unit - guaranteed. $600.00 plus labor.
Awning Fascia actuators - I haven't used my awnings, but found that one of the actuators is bad the last time I cleaned the gutters. One of the diodes blew on the limit switch. To replace it, I need to order an old stock replacement, or I have to get three new ones. The new ones are not compatible with the old models. They run at a different speed. The new ones run about $200.00 each - not too bad. If I order the new ones, I will have two spares for the other side.
