AC gasket change question

I was recently told that "we" should change our roof AC gaskets every 2 years. This was supposed to reduce / eliminate the water pooling / leaking sometimes seen from the roof AC units.
Should I decide to change them out has anyone done it ?? If so is it easy or difficult ??

Any comments for or against ??
