Have the creeping window seals resulted in anyone's windows actually fogging up between the panes? Or is it "only" an aesthetic thing?

We had only one window with the creeping seal - The bathroom window. It was just a visual thing with no fogginess. The blind is down 99.9% of the time. But we did have it replaced.

I had five windows affected but no fogging. The creeping seal is really not a seal. It is a spacer strip that is attached to the seal that helps to keep the glass pane aligned during the assembly process. At least that is the way it was explained to me by SE-GI and it sounds very reasonable. It is more a cosmetic issue and with the bronze tinted exterior is not noticeable from the outside.

Most of the windows in my 2006 Allure are starting to fog. I was referred to Dave Root in Bend, Oregon who will be on the road doing on-site repairs. Who has had Dave repair and reseal their windows? How long has it lasted so far?

Were you satisfied wit the finished product? Were you satisfied with the way the work was done in your coach? Any further comments?

Thanks.

Jim,

We had most of our windows repaired by Dave Root 2 years ago and all are still fine. He also provides a 3 year warranty which most do not. We thought his work was excellent and his price was representive of what most charge for this service.

I agree with Ken. I'm on year 3 of Dave's repair and still looks good.

I have the same problem with my 2007 Tribute. CC in Junction City quoted me $669 for my driver's side window alone. At that rate about $8000.00 in all to fix my windows. The drivers is a safety issue and must be done.

Monty,

You might be able to convince you insurance company to fix your drivers window due to the safety factor. Worth a call especially if you have a good relation with your agent.

Monty,

That price for the driver's side window is in line with the ones I have gotten. However the price was not to fix the glass but to replace it with new double pane glass. The price is high because the corners are rounded and that requires special attention when ordering the replacement glass. Most people here have opted to have the existing double glass panes with a broken seal fixed. Basically that means using the same glass and cleaning it and resealing it. The price is considerably lower in most cases. The question how long the repair will last has come up but in listening to the group it seems to me that overall the repairs have held up fairly well. I had several clouded window on my couch before I got rid of it and I would have opted for the repairs if that means anything.
Most local glass companies will replace the pane but there are not as many that are willing to repair them. The group now seems to have a fair list of where the repair folks are throughout the country.
When you say safety issue is that in your opinion or have you had trouble getting an inspection sticker with the fogged window? Just curious.

Ned,

We got our drivers side window, curb side window and entry door window fixed by Dave Root in Bend Oregon for $780. This also included a 3 year warranty. We did this 2 years ago and they are still in excellent condition.

when I had coach glass rebuild my three piece drivers window, they turned the repairs to my insurance company and ate my $100 deductible in Eugene Oregon.

The safety came one afternoon on a tight switchback with the sun low in the sky right on the fogged window. The corners were so tight creeping along at 5 to 10 mph I could not see sideways to see if a car was coming, as I had to go over the line to make the curve with my front wheels right on the edge of a deep ditch. I was driving blind.
