Hi, I am Brett Baker. Me and my wife are about to become the new owners of a 2008 Country Coach Allure 470 Crane Praire. We were approached by the dealer to purchase an national auto care rv warranty. They want $17,000.00 for this 5 year bumper to bumper warranty with a $100.00 detuctable. Considering all the equipment on this coach, I can understand the cost but am never sure of the coverage until I present a claim. Has anyone ever dealt with this company and if so how were you treated? Thanks Brett

Welcome to the club....Not sure about national auto care, never heard of them. But this board and the 3 others we belong are full of complaints about after market warranties finding ways not to pay. We have a 2008 allure, purchased it new as CC was going broke. Other then normal service, have spent less then a couple $1000 on repairs. Do make sure it has a wet PTO, also check the radiator, if it's aluminum, it's going to be a problem. Many of the warranties exclude both items? Enjoy the coach, very well built, love ours. Have about 35k miles and maybe 900 nights. Oh, one more thing, look for paint checking in the fiberglass, happens only in the dark colors. You don't say the coach number or where your located? LMK if I can answer any more questions.....mike

Welcome to the Country Coach family, I'm not familiar with the warranty service company your dealer is promoting.
I have my extended service agreement from Allegiance that I purchased through Wholesale Warranties. My sales rep was Brittany Malkin 858-658-0530. I have been pleased with this company. I've had only one claim, my leaking aluminum radiator which they DID cover. I simply took my coach to the repair shop and they handled it all directly with Allegiance.
Make sure any policy you get is an EXCLUSIONARY PLAN. That means that everything is covered except items listed under "What Is Not Covered".
My plan cost was $4,492.

You may want to get a quote from Wholesale Warranties for a comparison.
Overall Country Coach built a solid product.

Congratulations on your new coach. We can concur with RJ - We have experienced good service and claims resolution through Wholesale Warranties. The price you were quoted by the dealer is high compared to current typical market prices. Whatever extended warranty you purchase, be sure to take the exclusionary policy option.
Good luck.

When we bought our coach it was 7 years old, which is close to the one your buying. That was five years ago. The best extended warranty policy we could find was XtraRide Platinum. The cost was 8,000 for three years. We got extra ride because of so many others on several RV forums recommending them. We got the seller to pay half. We were very happy with XtraRide. They basically fixed everything that went wrong with no hassles at all. I would suggest you post in more than one forum to ask about this warranty company. If there are not quite a few positive comments you might consider ExtraRide.

In a couple of cases we had breakdowns in the middle of nowhere and the people fixing our coach could call XtraRide and get authorization very quickly over the phone to do the work.

I would also comment that you should try to pick carefully who does your work. In several cases we had to repair the repairs of improperly done problems.

We have enjoyed our coach quite a bit and use it all the time. Ours has 120,000 miles on it now and drives beautifully. Our interior is a southwest styled theme and it is still beautiful 12 years old. The only coach that I would think would be an upgrade from ours would be some type of Prevost or maybe a Newell. And three weeks ago I parked next to one of the original investors in Newell in New Mexico and he drove a Prevost.

We have the exact same model, exact same year...purchased in December. We did get a warranty and so far happy we did (haven't used it yet, but are about to!!). I would advise you to shop around for your warranty, that price is very high. I can't remember what we paid exactly, but I remember getting quotes between 5-8K. We ended up with the warranty from Open Road-National Auto Care....

When you research, look at Open Road; believe it's the same as the one you are being quoted.

I agree with the others, $17,000 for an extended warranty is way too high. I would run from it. We got one from Cornerstone and it was reasonably priced, they have worked well with repair shops on a few items, and paid quickly.

Thanks to all who responded to my warranty info request. After investigating all of your suggested warranty companies, I found that all were more money for the same coverage that NAC will provide or they did not have a policy as extensive. For those that don't remember the NAC quote it was $17,000.00. Good Sam for the same coverage and deductible was $33,000.00. All companies said that the 41,000 miles on a 2008 coach, made the dollar amount of the warranty jump up considerably. We really love the coach and want to keep it in top notch mechanical condition. I guess that's the price you have to pay for peace of mind.

Thanks again

Brett,

Have you looked @ Easy Care extended warranty? I purchased a 4 year warranty for $6,598.00 in October of 2013. My coach is an 2005 Inspire. I worked with Joe Cartwright @ Premier Motor Coach Tucson, AZ 85706 520-624-2024. You might try and contact him. They paid for radiator replacement in June of 2014.

Put the warranty money in the bank and pay for your own repairs.

Be sure to have a solid pre-purchase drive train inspection result.

OMG 17k for an extended warranty? Now I've heard everything! I'm sitting here in total shock!
All the years I've been dealing with extended warranties and all the troubles that are had trying to get them to cover requested items. Just because you have an extended warranty and just because the policy states an individual item doesn't mean when you call in they will just sign a blank check and authorize the work to be performed. I.E. - had an extended warranty on a roof top A/C unit recently and the fan motor was bad, ok started checking and the motor was NLA (no longer available) ok - so if it's nla then a new roof top unit was needed. This EW company (can't remember who at the moment) would only pay for the cost of the motor for the amount of when the item was still available - minus the deductible. Bottom line, the motor when it was available in 2008 was $137 and the labor to change was 1.5 hours or $158, and the replacement unit was well over that amount, which at the end of the day the customer wanted his A/C to work, thus he had to pay the difference...
I would never recommend anyone to ever buy an extended warranty for any amount close to this. Somewhere in the 1k per year for the policy seems to be about the max you should pay, much over that and I'd keep my cash in the bank, or under my bed, or in a can buried in the back yard before I'd ever give it to those crooks!

Just my opinion....
