Warning Light - Cummins/Silverleaf

Yahoo Message Number: 15112
Wednesday northbound on I-75 all three warning lights came on, Stop Engine, Engine Warning and Wait to Start, followed by a reduction in power then back to full power only leaving the amber Engine Warning light on. The Silverleaf showed fault code 507. Called Silverleaf and they informed me that their codes do not correspond to Cummins, but would try to cross over the codes for me. They tried, but the code did not match up with Cummins.

The Cummins code was 434, an interruption in voltage of some sort.
Cummins couldn't find anything wrong after checking everything over while hooked to the machine. Cummins Southeast in Ocala, FL did an excellent job, had me in and out in about 2 hours. They're a Coachcare facility and treat RV'ers very well.

Hi Tom,

My Cummins fault code information indicates that voltage fell below 6 vdc to the ECM. There are at least 5 inputs separately fused: 3 - 7.5 amp and 2 - 10 amp fuses, should be located inside the battery compartment on the wall. There is a common terminal there. All terminations from there to the battery are suspect.

Hmmm. My newly installed Silverleaf VMSpc, that connects to my laptop shows the fault codes with a plain english definition. But in reference to your problem (code 507/434), maybe you have a bad chassis ground somewhere.

Hi Tom,

It appears you may have an intermitant. The connector to the ECM that has th 5 power leads should be removed and reconnected after inspection going back to the 5 fuses. That's a normal diagnostics procedure.

Fred,

Thanks, I'll pull the connection and check it out. We did remove and reinstall all the fuses at Cummins, but I don't think he unhooked the connector. Are you going to Moultrie? Tom
