Sap removal on roof of rig?

We're in OR and the sap is running...all over the rooftop of our Intrigue! It's a mess while these stringy things are falling, but it'll be a real mess to get the sticky stuff off when it's all done with the "falling debris." Does anyone have any good suggestions for the major sticky sap removal we will have to do?

I used to take the rig to golf tournaments and sometimes parked at the Country Clubs and I would go with a girlfriend. We jsut parked where it was shady and cooler...big mistake, too much sap! Hope all is going well for you. Another product that might work, but might be kind of expensive, is Goo-Gone. Maybe any port in a storm?!

There are a couple of products on the market to remove tar, sap, etc.
I'd try a little mineral spirits. This is a slow evaporating aliphatic solvent, which won't damage the paint or fiberglass gelcoat. Hardware stores, Home Depots and Lowe's carry this in their paint dept. If this doesn't cut it, then it's on to Xylene, a aromatic hydrocarbon solvent.
Fast evaporating but substantially strong at dissolving (stuff). This I wouldn't let set on the surface to long. It shouldn't damage the finish, but will dissolve any wax or surface treatment.
Also great for grease and oil removal.

I use goo-gone, with much success, let the stuff do the work and refrain from the elbow grease. I used it once on my Dodge pickup with to much elbow grease, then I had to use a light compound on the spot to bring the shine back.

For what it is worth - - When I was a kid (many decades ago) we always used butter or probably margarine to get tree sap off of our hands. Of course a little soap and water was necessary afterwards but I do not recall that it required a lot of effort. A MH roof might be too large of an area to do that way but you may want to try it if some of these commercial cleaners that have been recommended don't do the trick.
