Power Tech Generator question

Yahoo Message Number: 15645
The air filter housing on my power tech generator as a clamp which need to be replaced and I have been unable to find one. Has anyone had this problem and were you able to find one locally or fabricate one using some locally available materials?

Ray,

If yours is the same as mine, the clamp is a V-band clamp. A flat worm screw clamp is likely to slip off. The air filter gets allot of vibration. You might try PowerTech. They are located here if Florida.

Thanks for reply. I was able to use a product called JB Weld, found it at Home Depot, it is an epoxy which is advertised to have high holding strength. I placed some of the JB weld epoxy on the end of the clamp, where the retaining washer was held in place by a very weak bend in the metal, and then placed a 1/4 inch washer there to give it some strength and then applied more JB Weld Epoxy on top of the washer. So far it is working and seems to be holding. A rancher I ran into at Home Depot suggested the product, says he uses it on all sorts of equipment on his ranch with good results.

I had called Powet Tech in Leesburg and they told me that they didn't have the clamps in stock and that a complete housing could be ordered from Donaldson which might take several weeks to get. So, decided to try a work around approach until next time I am in Leesburg and will have them replace the housing and clamp.
