Keeping the "slide" in your slides

Believe this topic has been on the board in the past but I didn't have slides then and didn't pay attention. I have been told...leave the rubber seals alone...just keep clean. But current issue of MOTOR HOME magazine has the above titled article and recommends two products (p.
44) to lube the mechanisms and to lube the rubber seals. Comments and your practices? Joe Cronin '03 Magna 6223

I never used any lube for the first two years and the seals got really beat up. Now that they have replaced the trim around the slide rooms (because of electrolysis) and installed all new seals, I've been using Protect-all Rubber Slide Lube. It keeps the seals looking like new with a UV protectorant and also eliminates all the drag and damage.
The seals wipe doesn't flop in and out any longer when I slide the rooms in and out, because the slides are so slippery. The slide rooms just slide without damaging the seals. I really like the results.
The only drawback is that the slide rooms look a little greasy and don't shine like the rest of the coach when the slide rooms are out.

At hoecoing last year HWH said don't lube any of the slide mechanisms,(period). The wiper seals, everyone had their own opinion. But there is not one answer because over the years different materials have been used. TWI 11731 2004 Intrigue, 98 Allure 30255

We were told in our walk thru to lightly spray silicon on the sides of the slides. We have not done this yet, and probably won't. Things seem to work fine the way they are ... the seals don't press that hard.

We do two things to our slide rubber, when ever the slide is out I make sure the rubber is always facing one direction and not twisted, I also use some rubber slide conditioner available at Camping world every 6 months. Have had 3 slide coaches and never a slide problem.
