Rust from up north

As in my earlier post, we recently sold or lemon 2003 Fleetwood Excursion after having spent 9 of the 1st 12 months in the dealer's shop - settled on lemon law suit - anyway, traded up to a '98 CC Intrigue 40' w/Cummins 325hp and mileage in the high 90s. The engine has no blowby and drives & handles like a dream - just love it.
Looks new inside and almost new out. Got a deal on it we couldn't pass up but it unfortunately came from up north. Salt has taken a toll on some of the square tubular framing behind the front wheels.
Thinking of having my body man cut out the bad sections & replace. I have room $ wise to invest a few dollars in this coach & keep it.
Not full timers - own insurance agency so can travel when we want. I am aware of the CC reputation & that's a big reason we bought it.
Don't intend to trade again (3 times in the last 5 yrs) and I can sit by our pool in our back yard and look at the parked '98 CC and not have to watch the depreciation meter running like it was on steroids! Planning a marathon run from here (Dallas area) to Vancouver, WA and back this Oct. I've only had it out once to IL and back and only had to tighten a radiator hose clamp to stop a slow leak.

I'm a worrier - any experience a reader may have had with a similar coach - longevity - Allison transmission durability, thoughts on the rust issue, etc will be greatly appreciated. Also, does anybody offer extended warranties on coaches w/100k+ miles? The ones I've talked to make no distinction between gas/diesel and cut off @ 100k - doesn't make much sense.

Congrats.

Put the money into fixing the rust areas and do a good look for any more spots. Rust won't fix itself.
You have already driven from Tx to IL so you know the engine and trans are fine. Now just sit back and look at it, do take it out at times, and wait for Oct.

My suggestion is that you take a close look at your battery tray. We are just now replacing it because of rust and corrosion from acid. Our coach spent time in New Jersey and Florida prior to our rescue to the West a little over a year ago.

I've got some rust too behind the rear wheels on the battery side.
I intend to cut it back to good solid metal and replace the piece (s). Mine is a '95 Intrigue and it spent a couple of years in Michigan before me. I think that the early Intrigues were not corrosion protected very well. If you have some light rust that you want to treat, that POR-15 is incredible. But make sure that you wear rubber gloves while applying it or you'll be wearing it for weeks.
