Tank vents

I just realized my coach (2000 36' Intrigue 'Galley's Open') has three vents on the roof. Why three? One for the black tank, one for the grey tank, the third? The reason I am asking is I want to install a 360 vent on the black tank vent, and I am not sure which one that is. I assume it is the one directly aft of the toilet, but am not sure. The other two are beside each other, just in front of the shower. Are there two for the grey tank? If so, why?

Hi Al,

The vent on the passenger side on ours is the washer vent, and could possibly vent the Grey tank. You have the same model as I do and I just recently removed the the washer/dryer and remodeled the cabinet for more storage. I can send a photo of whats behind the wall if you desire. As a sidebar, the back of the upper cabinet is a false wall and only hides the vent pipe. It is a space about 5" deep and you can gain a slight more storage by removing it and boxing in the vent pipe only.

Hi Al, Odor from the gray tank can be as bad as the black tank so my first recommendation is that you install two units.

How do you decide which vent is which? This is really technical, right up there with jake brakes, rear view cameras and tire pressures.

"You get up on the roof, take off the existing caps and smell each vent. Your answer will then be obvious. GGGG

No kidding, this is exactly how the professional did it when installing my two and they have worked perfectly since.

 Good luck. David

An easy way to determine is to be on the roof and have someone flush the toilet....obviously you can hear the difference... Suggestion is exactly right...you should put on tow. If one is installed it should be the gray water.

Thanks. I do not have a washer/dryer, so I did not think of that, but the rig is pre-wired and plumbed for one, so that obviously is what that vent is for. And after other folk's comments, I think I will go ahead and put a 360 on both the black and grey vents, from what people say they really work.

On the 06 Inspire the vent closest to passenger side is black vent.
Just replace vent cover myself. 2 side by side are gray and shower vents as it was explained by CC.
