Shock adjustment

I'm thinking of adjusting my shocks one setting firmer. Can someone that has done this tell me how difficult it is ??
Can I just disconnect the bottom and adjust or must the entire shock be removed ??

Yes you can, here we go:
1. Take a black magic marker and "mark" the upper housing of the shock and in-line directly below where the bottom piece attaches to the bolt place another "mark".

2. Remove bolt, keep shock in exact same position and push it to the fully retracted position.

3. Now, counting and watching the black mark turn the lower shock piece that in your hand to the right until you feel it "lock/stop".

4. The shock is now in its "firmest" position. If you want your
shock "one step" now turn the shock back to the left 1/2 the number of turns it took to get it to the stop/lock position, if it took 2 turns to get it stop/locked, back off 1 turn.
I believe it is 2 3/4 turns 360's from the "softest" to the "firmest" poposition.

I did the same on my '95. If I remember correctly, you must compress the shock entirely to make the adjustments. Those shocks are extremely stiff and it took some serious pushing to get them compressed. Also, the bottom bolts will likely be rusted. It will save you a lot of effort if you use an impact wrench. Also....prepare to get seriously dirty.
