Air Dump Problem

The front end of our 02 Allure is not dumping air properly when we push the "dump" button prior to leveling. The rear raises itself to level with the front. This just recently began happening. Otherwise the HWH system seems to operate properly - ride height is correct, etc.

Any ideas as to where to start looking?

Jim and Mary Jo,

I recently had a similar problem. I found the exhaust ports on the front leveling solenoid valve manifold were plugged up. Cleaned them out by VERY carefully by turning a drill bit with my fingers where the port hole should have been.
All works fine now.

Sorry if I change the tone of this a bit, but why do you dump the air prior to leveling ???

We just push the button twice and let the computer take it from there.
Usually the rear drops and the front rises slightly.
I am answering a question with a question I know, but I assume you will get some good advice concerning your problem and can fill me in between reading answers.

While I cannot speak for Jim and Mary Jo, the CC tech at Tucson has said that to get the lowest possible level, you should dump are first and then allow the computer to bring the four corners up to level.
This keeps the coach as low to the ground as possible.

I do this if I find that the front is going up too "high" to attain level. I guess the dump air in this case gets the rear as low as possible before bringing up the front. The computer does lower the rear on my coach too, but I guess not all of the way.

We do this, too. The only disadvantage on our coach is that, as its rear gets close to the ground, we have to watch that the full-width mud flap doesn't crush itself. So Geri simply pulls it back as the coach lowers.

In other words I dump the air, let rig settle, turn off the key, turn the key back on, and then hit the HWH auto level button twice. Another advantage of dumping prior to leveling is that the high corner remains down all the way after leveling. This eliminates (or at least reduces) the swaying when you walk around the coach. I always dump prior to leveling.

You shouldn't have to turn the key off. After dumping air, try turning the leveling system OFF momentarily, then press the auto leveling button twice.

Hi Folks,

We follow the same procedure. Dump the air to lower while Margie holds the mudflap up, then we hit the autolevel twice to level. We do not need to turn ignition off and on to engage the autolevel.

We also dump first and then auto level. Works great and keeps the coach close to the ground. I fixed up a little device to "save the flap and chrome" .... just mount an eye bolt with double nuts and washers at the center of the flap and use a bungie or something similar to sling it to the hitch prior to backing up and or leveling. Gets it out of the way and protects everything.
