Safes

Yahoo Message Number: 18415
I would like to install a safe in our coach and wonder where they are usually located in CC's and if anyone has installed one who might comment on difficulty, brands, locations etc.
Thanks

My 2000 Intrigue came with one mounted at the forward right side of the bed (under the liftable bed.) Yours could probably be mounted there.

IF I had a safe in my expensive coach, I surely wouldn't post it's location on a PUBLIC bulletin board.

Yeah, I already have a note taped to my dash to watch out for Ray - an unknown guy in a 2000 Intrigue - so I can peek under his bed. ;^)

Tom,

It is shown in CC literature, it was installed at the factory. I would rather the buglar know where it is rather than have him tearing the coach looking for it. He knows to go to the bedroom and then it is just a matter of tearing everything apart and dumping it all over the coach before he finds it. BTW, a detective told me that buglars always head for the bedroom when they break into a house because 99% of all people hide their valuables there.
The location of the safe is no secret, the secret is the combination.

The storage place, takes the place of a drawer which would be mounted there.

What a great resource this group is. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions on safes for the coach. The one comment that no need for a safe because all money went in the fuel tank hit the nail on the head ;-)

Thanks again

Don't forget that a safe is dual-purpose. If fire rated, as most (all?) are, they can be used to protect important papers from a fire. This is particularly important for full-timers who carry all their "papers" with them. Safes are fire rated for certain temps for certain durations. As usual, check the label before you buy.
