Tire upgrade - Recall

Gene: Right now, I don't know what is happening with my recall situation.
About one year ago I replaced all of my 275x70x22.5s with 275x80x22.5. Michelin XZA2's. Prior to upgrading, I talked to the tech's at Country Coach. They discouraged it because of the potential for the frame hitting the top of the larger tires and the need to recalibrate the speedometer.
I have not recalibrated my speedo because Country Coach doesn't know how and frankly, I can factor about 5 mph @ 55 to 65 mph. Lower speeds make no perceptible difference.
Notwithstanding their words of caution I did it anyway and have been very happy with the tires. No, they don't hit the frame when all of the air is out of the suspension to park it in the garage.
Since I have new tires, I contacted the Compliance Dept. at Country Coach. I didn't jot down the name of the person I spoke with, but he told me that his orders were to replace all tires irrespective of whether they were replacement tires or original equipment.

I asked him where the logic was in doing that and he told me that unless I could guarantee (somehow) that I had always ran with 125 psi, he would have to replace them.
When I told him that I had always ran 105 in all tires, and with Smart Tire, the pressure generally goes up to 125 in normal operation, he said that it might work to keep them.
He is going to ask the Federal Compliance person who is overseeing the recall and see if they could reimburse me rather than replacing nearly new tires.
I haven't heard back from him, but I sent him a copy of the invoice I have for replacing the tires.
Unless they will replace the new tires (which seems foolish) with exact size and brand, I'm going to ignore the recall and keep the XZA2's.

CC told me the same. I replaced all tires in Sept. 04 and only have 5-6k miles on them, but they told me to replace them. I have always put 110 in the front and 100 in the rear. Apparently you had no problem finding a dealer that would agree install a bigger tire. I got a price of $2,628.00 (including Equal in the fronts)+ $50.00 disposal fee for Goodyear G670RV 275/70R/22.5. How does that compare to your price quote?

Ron; I retained the same wheels. We checked the requirement on the Michelin chart and they were alright. At this point I don't recall what size my wheels are, but I know I didn't change them, just the tires.

Has anyone installed 365/70/22.5 tires/wheels on late Affinity, Magna, Intrigue with 18,000 lb IFS. 315's are marginal on front of certain coaches.

I can't speak for the Affinity or Magna but my 2007 Intrigue can run my 315s at 95 PSI, according to the Michelin charts, with a nice safety margin. With a high side limit of 120 PSI or so I wouldn't call that marginal.

I think you missed that he is talking about an 18,000 lb front end.
I run the Continental 315R80s on my 15,500 lb front end at 105 PSI but max single for these tires is 9,090 lb if a load range L. I think that is the margin that Coriwelsh is speaking of.

Hi George. Can you find me an Intrigue with a 18,000 lb front end? If you can I'll change my opinion.

Mine sure doesn't come close . . . it's about the same as yours.
