Generator engine surges?

My Onan 7.5KW quiet diesel engine has decided to start surging. It produces good power and runs good most of the time, but every 3 or 4 minutes or so I can hear the RPMs increase a few hundred RPMs for about 1 or 2 seconds, then it will stabalize back to normal. No fault codes are showing up. It has 353 hours on it. Anyone ever have their generater do this? Thanks for any insight.
