Missing Front room heat

Going up to cold country Sunday and was checking my thermostat settings. I see that I have my zone 2 furnace but the zone 1 furnace option is gone !! Still have all the heat pump, AC, Fan Only settings but no furnace setting for zone 1.
I know it was there before, any idea's ?? Does the Thermostat need to be reset ?? Is there a fuse somewhere ??
This one has me stumped. No mention in the manuals that I could find.

Don't know that much about it, but you might try disconnecting the power to the thermostat somehow and reconnect.

Thanks Larry. I had thought about that but the thermostat cover does not want to come off without a struggle. So I'm not going to force it and add another thing I need to fix. :-)

I'm currently up in Vancouver for a week then I'm going to try to stop by the factory on my way south. I have other items I want fixed. Maybe they can look at that also.

Have you tried turning off the coach 12V and turning it back on? That's what I had to do when our thermostat was acting up. Only way I could find to reset the thermostat.

I certainly can't speak for your Intrigue, but if you have forced air heat I believe you only have one zone for heat. You have two themostat zones cuz you have two ACs, but you probably have only one furnace. So, you only have one thermostat zone to control it. At least that's the way it is on my 00 Allure.

My 2002 Allure has only one furnace that operates on two zones.

Interesting thought. One of the CC tech support people also had that idea. However it was discovered that while you only have one furnace, you can have multiple heat exchangers that can be controlled by "zones".

So I have re-visited my Comfort Control Center booklet and confirmed that indeed I can have 2 furnace heat zones controlled by my thermostat.

I still think the problem is either my telephone line is not getting a signal to the thermostat or a bad thermostat. More to follow.

I don't see how.

Unless the thermostat actually contols the ducts as well as the furnace, the furnace heats the whole coach whenever it runs. If the thermostat says it has two heat zones, it must be turning on the furnace and heating the whole coach whenvever either zone gets cold. Therefore, it is running the furnace more often; probably more often than necessary.

Just my reasoning.

What you say is plausible; it just doesn't jive with what I observe in my 2000. Whenever the furnace comes one, warm air comes out of ALL of the ducts.

Did the technology change for 01?
OR

Is it different for shorter coaches?

You only have one furnace and it is controlled by the thermostat that has furnace on it. you have 2 heat pumps, 2 fans, 2 a/c compressors, and so they are each listed on one themostat or the other. you never had "furnace" on the other thermostat. The furnace detects the temperature at that thermostat. If you want to change the heat area you do it by opening and closing registers.

His coach may have a Wabasto or Hydro-Hot in which case the heat is provided by heat exchangers running hot water from the Wabasto and not a Suburban furnace pushing hot air. This system has multiple zones for heat and A/C.

Bob,

I do in fact have hydronic heat provided by the infamous Hurricane furnace. And I do have heat exchangers not forced air heat coming out of the AC ducts (unless I'm using the heat pumps on the AC units).

I was able to confirm that my telephone wire had not vibrated loose.
As Ron and Molly had happen before.

So still on the hunt.

The "furnace" pushes the heat out of the floor ducts, (or the ones close to the floor). I have 4 furnace floor duct outlets. Two in front and two in the rear. The two outlets in the front work off zone 1 and the other two work off of zone 2. Neither zone will operate if I have that zone turned off while the other zone is on.
All four outlets has it own fan and plumbing. I believe the thermostat merely controls the fan and plumbing valves needed for each zone. My Allure is 36' long, if that means anything.

Well said. That is exactly the way I understand my system is supposed to work. I have the same ducting outlets that you describe.

My problem continues to be that the front furnace "system" does not appear in the "zone 1" options on my thermostat. "Furnace" is an option ONLY when going through the zone 2 list.

There is a procedure to reset the thermostat when that happens, that happened to me several years ago so not sure of the procedure but it is accomplished by pushing both top buttons at the same time and then a combination of the up/down buttons if I remember correctly.
You are resetting a value stored in memory board....sorry I can't be more specific but maybe it is in the manual and someone can find it for you. Mine has hydronic heater, not sure if it works same for the gas furnace equipped rigs or not.

2. Hold down the "Zone" button and the "Mode" button while sliding the switch on the bottom to the "on" position.

3. This will reset the thermostat.

I'm not sure if my first response made it, so here it is again.

we had this problem for weeks where we had no Zone 1, and finally found a tech who knew the system.
Control to the thermostat is a telephone type line and connection that has an extension connection where it goes through the housing of the forward air conditioner on the inside of the coach. The connection had vibrated apart. Once he re-commencted that telephone type wire and connector we had the Zone 1 back again. BTW, this was after trying 2 new thermostats which were returned.

Thanks Ron and/or Molly. I had front AC work done a while back.
Can't say for sure on the timing but that sounds like a great place to start troubleshooting. Fortunately it's not real cold up here (Vancouver BC) so the heat pumps work great.
