Slide Awning Problem

Yahoo Message Number: 20354
A few days ago while driving across the Texas panhandle, we had very strong winds hitting the driver side of the coach. The awning over the Living Room slide began to ballon up occasionally, then retract. It continued even after slowing down considerably. I assume it is the wind hitting the side of the coach and getting under the awning. We have Zip- Dee awnings. Has anyone had this problem and is there a fix?

Had the same thing happen with our awning. The cure is to put more turns on the spring. The awning should have one turn for every foot of awning plus eight more. This is a starting point. I added another five turns and haven't had the awning bellow out since. Instructions to add more turns can be found in the ZipDee manual or by calling ZipDee.

Exactly the same thing happened to us. For a temporary fix I attached a bungee cord from the attach strip on the roof to the hook on the coach side at awning mid-span. After getting home I completely unrolled the awning and carefully rewound it taking out most of the creases. It seems to be ok. I thought the metal sections that protect the awning when stored had buckled but it seems not.
