Home theater help?

Yahoo Message Number: 20656
Newbie here, 2006 Inspire and I'm thoroughly confused on the optional home entertainment system.

The "receiver" (compartment over the pax side) appears to be some slick thin device that in manufactured by P&J (HCS 1600-P). Here's the problem(s) . . .

1. The power button will not turn the unit off, there is no power selection on the remote so the unit appears to be always on (?).

2. The manual states to set it up in the "stop" mode, which the unit will not go to no matter how I try it.

3. There does not appear to be any way to set the treble, bass etc.(?)
4. Finally, the manual has no help number . . . ain't that a hoot . . .

Now what . . . call the factory? Not sure of the protocol.

Yes, my purchase walk-thru was less than short . . .

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Lon

I have have the exact unit you have, I barelly have any time on it also. I think the power light after you hit the power off is just a stanby light like a home Reciever. If I am correct the stop mode is just when a DVD isn't playing. Here is the the web site http://www.pj-sound.com/site-box.cfm?SIID=8&COID=27&selected=0 If this doesn't help contact me and we can try together on the phone in front of them.

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Home theater help?HI Lon, Bob will look tomorrow to see what system we have in the Allure. If you can get out, come to Havasu and maybe Bob can help you with it. Lots of RV parks here as well as maybe you can squeeze in front of us in the driveway.

Lon, are you sure that the unit really is not 'off' when you properly use the power button? Many fancy electronics have a 'standby' mode which is indicated by a light on or near the power button. The manual does not mention powering off, so perhaps it times out after some time without use? Or try pushing and holding the power button for 5 seconds (works for computers).

It never says to go to stop mode, just 'from stop mode press SETUP'. I would assume that 'stop mode' means that any disk in the unit is stopped, ie press the 'stop' button on the remote.

As for bass and treble, no it does not seem like there is any control for that. Apparently it is programmed to provide 'perfect' sound and no silly humans need to apply. If you can get at the subwoofer, it may have a volume knob on it to control the bass.
Also check out the set up section to see if it has any sound 'profile' selection or other way of equalizing the various frequencies. There is something called DRC and something else called LPCM, but doesn't seem to say what they do.

I did a Google search on HCS 1600-P. Seems to be a foreign gizmo; the warrenty site listed UK and a bunch of European countries, but for US customers, 'contact your dealer', ie Country Coach or possibly your salesman (mine would find out for me, but then he is exceptional). Further clicking around seems to indicate it was made by 'Jamo', and I found their US contact info as:

Jamo US Inc.

Come to a rally, the home theater guy is always there to come to your coach and give you hands on instructions. We do 2 or more rallies a year and each time we need some instructions on some part of the HT or GPS. He will also clean the DVD slot on the GPS which gets rather dirty at times.

Re: [Country-Coach-Owners] Home theater help?Hey Lon, We think we're going. I'm sure they are a lot different than the ones we've been to with our previous coach.
