Sky Light Problem

I have water in between the layers of my tub sky light. Has anyone had this problem and how was it taken care of? It doesn't look as if there is a breach in the sealant.

Could there be a leak on the inside? Moist air from inside may be getting in there and condensing.

I had this problem with my sky light. My problem was on the outside.
The caulking around the sky light was not done very well and the sky light was held with very shout screws. I recaulked and added longer screws and have not had the problem again.

The fact that there is a small hole in the inner panel would be enough to allow moisture to enter in the contraction part of equalizing air pressure. Said moisture would then be trapped , for the most part, in between the two panes.
Wouldn't/won't it? That could be why I have moisture in mine and have been unable to find a place where the seal was bad.
Is there any other input on this or is the small hole not an issue?

For sure moisture can get condensed in side through the hole. I had a cup full inside and found the where the leak was. I found the hole on the new one and then got to looking at the old on and sure enough it also ha the same hole. How much water is inside, on your coach? I have not had anymore water after repacing the sky light.

Have you found the small hole? I really dont think its a problem.

I have had that problem.

When my coach was new within 6 months of having it that problem started.
CC people thought it was a condensation problem, so they drilled 4 holes in the inside layer to vent the sky dome.
That did not work it still leaked.
They have replaced it under warranty since that no leaks since.

I had the same problem. It was leaking between the layers because the sealant had been compromised. It had to be removed, old caulking cleaned up and removed and new caulking put on. That solved the problem.

What is the concensus on whether or not the dome comes with a small hole in the inside dome? I have looked but do not see one.

Posted a photo of hole in sky light with a 1/6 inch wire pushed into the hole. Tht sky light is new from CC in OCT 06 and in on a 36 ft 2001 Intrigue # 11314. the old sky light also had the same hole in it. pengo22usa (Marvin Swenson #11314) PS. I don't Know if CC has done this on the newer coaches or not.

OK, I checked your photo and low and behold there it was in the left front corner of dome. Don't know why I could not find it before. Now, I ask, won't this hole introduce moisture into dome when it cools off and the shower air is damp? Maybe the answer is to drill another small hole in the lowest spot of the dome where the moisture collects. Replacing the dome isn't going to end the problem to my way of thinking.

I understand what your saying how ever it is my opinion that the hole is not a problem other wise there would be lots of other CC owners

with water between the inter and outer domes. With as hard as it is to see the small hole in the inside dome, are you SURE that you do not have a breach in the sealant either around the edge or through a screw.

If your are sure there is no breach then this is what I would do, get a small aquarium pump $6 or so some silicone tubing and a short piece of small brass 1/8 in tubing from a hobby shop. Drill a 1/8 hole in the dome (being very careful not to break the inside dome and not drilling through the out side dome. near the edges of the sky light the two are separated by only 1/16 of the inch. Then put the small brass tubing in the hole and pump air inside the two. You may have to tape the tubing in place. It will take a few days but I have done this on house windows works great. I put a new on because there was separation

between the two domes between the screws the outside that had distorted

the plastic so I had little choice. I matched drilled 1 ½ inch x 1 inch

aluminum as a backing to the two layers. Pictures posted.
