Advantium 120 Quit

Yahoo Message Number: 21366
While baking my Advantium quit, lost all power. We signed on to GE's web site for service which worked well and a repair man came and put in a new $27 thermister for a total bill of $200. It worked again for microwaving 2 times and then I went to bake and it went out again. This time the repair man came, called his GE service tec and found that our serial number of oven has a fix kit that prevents it from over heating and blowing out this thermister. After 4 weeks without a microwave or oven I will be glad when it gets fixed but wanted to post this so others might check their units with GE to see if they also need this kit installed. We were traveling with "Larry & Linda" in their 04 Inspire when this first happened and they too had this happen to them last year. Ours is Coach #11649 03 Intrigue Ovation, so apparently there are several units out there with this problem. We retired 9/10/05 and had been using it for months before it happened. I wished GE or CC would send out notifications to alert us of these potential issues but hopefully this message will be of use to others.

Hi, I too heard of this problem some time back. I called GE a few months ago and GE said they knew nothing of this issue. Do you know if there is a list of serial numbers that are affected? Do you have the name of your contact at GE. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so mach, Hollicks 05 Affinity # 6370

Hello Ron; I had exactly the same problem. I diagnosed the problem myself and found the burned out thermister. I ordered the thermister part directly from GE for $14.50 and installed it in 10 minutes. The part number is WB21X10046.

We have not had a problem since. I'd sure be interested in more details about the "kit" and a part number if you can get it.

Thanks.

If you ever need information on your GE appliance, the
www. GEappliances.com web site is fantastic. It has full explosion diagrams and a complete list of every part available for every appliance. You can also order parts direct from GE on their web site.

I went to the www. GEappliances.com web site and looked for the "kit" WB49X10149, but there is no such number listed for the Advantium 120 oven! Ron, my Advantium 120 has a model number of SCA1000DBB03. Is this the same as yours? If the model numbers are different, this could account for the difference in part numbers.

My serial number is TD901608K, Model No: SCA1000DBB03 The kit has some ventilation holes in one of the covers that the original doesn't have and a small scrowd around the moister sensor. Otherwise it's the same.
