This morning's Arizona Star (Tucson Newspaper) has a full page feature article on the expansion of the campsites at Catalina State Park (approximately 10 miles North of Tucson on Highway 87). Apparently there are 75 new sites in Campground B which is beside Campground A with 48 sites. The sites are at the base of Pusch Ridge and the scenery is magnificent. I live in SaddleBrooke, about 10 miles North of this State Park and can vouch for the sunrises and sunsets. The area is very rural with lots of wildlife, trails and picnic areas. On the other hand, it is within 1 1/2 miles of a Trader Joe's and Sprouts.
The only drawback? There is a close dump but all the sites are electric and water only. However, at $20 a night, one can be a bit inconvenienced! Entrance to the park is $6 per vehicle.

We stayed there in January, and I would add one other drawback: It can get COLD there! It got into the 20's while we were there. It is fairly high in altitude.
