Digest Number 1910 - Internal alarm

Yahoo Message Number: 21676
Hi:

The external alarm is turned on with the remote key control. It does not control the internal side of the alarm. To turn on the internal alarm you have to use the switch under the dash board. Do not use it when you are in the coach or if you leave pets in the coach. Look under the dash for the swithch. You should also have what looks like a heat sensor on the front of the dash by the heater vents, etc. It is not a heat sensor. It is your alarm sensor. They may not be located in the same place on all coaches. Good luck.

Could you be a little more specific regarding the "switch under the dash board". I do not recall seeing any switch under the dash board.
Am I just looking in the wrong place?

Bob,

The only way that would work is if there is some type of motion detector, ie. passive infrared, microwave, ultrasound detector or contact point installed within the coach itself. You can have these or other detection devices added at any auto alarm center.

Tom and Sherry,

In my coach, there is a little toggle switch under the dash near the ignition. I have a (radar-type, I believe) motion detector on the centered where the dash plenum (?) meets the floor.
If you do not have a motion detector or something like it, it will not have that "valet" switch.

On my 2005 Allure there is a motion detector as described previously.
It is black and white and is located just above the floor on the center part of the dash.

This motion detector is selected or deselected by a switch under the drivers side of the dash toward the center of dash not far from the motion detector.

The entire alarm system is turned on or off using the key fob. If the motion detector is selected it is engaged/disengaged by the fob. I have no pets or children so when I am in the coach and want to engage the alarm I lean a book over the motion detector so that it will not set off the system but I do not need to crawl around on the floor to find the switch and deactivate the sensor.
I hope my description is clear and is helpful in answering questions regarding the alarm system.

Thanks Rosemary

I also have a small motion detector on my front panel between the Pilot and Co-Pilot seat. I will have to check on the toggle switch the next time I get to the coach.
