OnStar

Just food for thought. Our coach came with OnStar one year free.
However when we went to renew we asked for the Safe & Sound package since we only us the phone and liked the security of the 911 button.
We were told after several hours and days of checking that we could only get the Directions & Connection. This package costs $400 vs $200 for Safe & Sound. Why do we have to pay $200 more when they can't unlock our doors, we have no air bag and never used direction.
They said it had to do with the equipment put on RV's and that in 2008 everyone will have to update to digital at the cost of $800, but they will give us some free months. So in February we called for information because Hwy 99 was closed and they could not tell us where we were, what was going on ahead and they only guessed about an alt. route for us.

Every time we called them we would get several different answers.

WE CANELLED ENTIRE OPTION.

You got a different story than I did. They told me that my Onstar was 'analog only' and 'could not be updated to digital' and that when 'analog service is dropped' in January of 2007 or 2008 (can't remember which), I am sorry out of luck. That if I had the 'next model up', I could get a 'free' digital upgrade with a extended subscription (2 years maybe).

Haven't used it enough to see if it works well or not, but I do like that I get a 20% discount on my GMAC insurance for having it. Just about pays for a year of basic service (assuming they will still sell me that package :-)

Please note that the 20% discount on insurance only applies to the comprehensive part of your policy, normally the theft coverage only. It does not apply to liability, collision, uninsured/underinsured, medical payments, personal injury protection, emergency road service, accidental death, etc..Comp is usually a small part of the overall premium. But, always go for every discount you are entitled to.

Well that is part of our problem that every time you call or switch people each one says something different. I don't think anyone knows what they are talking about. We were told we could update if we go back to County Coach.
