choice for heat when temps below freezing

Since we are plugged into 30amps the heat pumps appear to be using some auxiliary heating elements to maintain the heat very well. ÊThe problem with the HP is they come from the ceiling and the heat is poorly distributed. ÊThe other issue is keeping the basement warm.

Tell me more about this basement thermostat and how I can locate this to make adjustments. ÊTell me also how you program your thermostat for this situation. ÊI can understand if you just rely on the hydronic, no issue. ÊBut if you use the park electricity predominantly for your power, how do you configure your heating system? ÊI was considering putting zone 2, the bedroom, on hydronic at a low temperature like 40 but keeping the galley and aft cabin on HP. ÊThe HP would provide all of the inner cabin heat in effect but would the hydronic be effective if the cabin temp never dropped below the 40 degree threshold?

I've had my 2002 coach only since October so I'm not that well versed on the hydronic but here is the way I understand it. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will set us both on the right track.
The thermostat is set on either FURNACE or HEAT PUMP. It can't be split. The heat pumps will heat the cabins as long as the outside temp is above the low 40s. Below that the furnace has to be used. The Hurricane controls must be on for it to work. That means for both the cabin and the plumbing bay. The thermostat in the cabin controls the temp in the cabin... not the bay.
There is an access panel in the plumbing bay that gives you access to the water pump and the drain valves in addition to the thermostat for the heat in the plumbing bay. It is a little black knob (in my coach) on the side wall of that little compartment... toward the front of the coach. It's a little difficult to read but is marked with degrees F. I had to adjust mine up a couple of notches to keep the compartment above freezing..... last night it did not go below 35.

Hope that helps answer your question...... and I would suggest that you do what I hate to do..... read the manual. I read them all.... cover to cover.
