Travel in Oregon

For those who know the roads in Oregon.
We are going from Bend to Junction City, Oregon for some repairs. Looking at the maps, it appears that the way to go is going on hwy 242 to hwy 126 into Eugene.. But one part of 242 looks very windy for a 40' and tow vehicle. Has anyone here ever traveled hwy 242 who can lend some insight on this road. Or should I go a different way? Thanks
Dave

From Bend to Eugene go on Hwy 20 thru Sisters to Hwy 126 tru Springfield. Do not try Hwy 242. It is very winding and curvy. Just past Sisters on Hwy 242 Hwy. sign say trucks and other Large vehicles not advised.

I would not recommend it with a 40ft and a toad. 35ft is the max recommendation for this stretch or road

Hwy 242 is never a good route for a motorhome of any length-it is still closed due to snow, from this past winter. Hwy 20 from Bend to Sisters then 20/126 to Springfield is the best route to Junction City.

Depending on your location in Bend another good route is to take Hwy 97 south to Crescent, then the Crescent Cutoff to Hwy 58 which goes through Oakridge to Eugene. This adds about ten miles to the trip but is a very good road, all downhill very easy curves and the cutoff is quite scenic.

We have used this route many times traveling from Salem to La Pine.
