Traveling to Canada.....Much Thanks for the Replies

First....Thanks to everyone who responded. I needed that.

Second....I had a M&G on my '97 Suburban, but I recently sold the Sub. I am not real thrilled about putting a M&G on this Acura.
Somebody mentioned the Brakemaster 9100. I checked it out and I think that I am going to go with that. I like the fact that I can easily install it in another vehicle if I decide to. Thanks again.

Third....This is our second trip to Banff and Jasper. We will be entering from the St. Marys side of Glacier National Park.
Everything that Jan said about that area is spot on correct. That tram ride up the mountain in Banff is worth the trip. It is one of the best views on the entire planet. We also enjoyed the Elk at that campground in Jasper. The roads are fine and the grades are not very steep.

Fourth....Nobody mentioned Revelstoke. For any of you train buffs out there, the Canadian Pacific Railroad's last spike was driven just a little bit west of Revelstoke. The scenery looks beautiful, from the pictures I have seen. I can't hardly wait. Hun....is it too early to start packing?

Thanks again.

Do any of you have experience traveling to Canada with pets? I would assume that proof of the usual vaccinations would be needed but do any of you know if a Health Certificate issued within a short time prior to crossing into Canada is required?
We needed a Health Certificate dated within 10 days of taking a recent airline flight so was just curious if something like that would be necessary going into Canada.

Thanks again -

I didn't mention Revelstoke because we were much less impressed with that whole area...preferred all the other places much more...Revelstoke was a disappointment after everything from Canmore north to Jasper and west from there. We hit that last, so that made a diff...probably if we had started seeing things from there, it would have been great...but after the Icefield Parkway, everything else is less!

Enjoy the trip...we're heading to Kelowna area this time which we missed the last trip.

We crossed going to Alaska two years ago. We had all of our up to date paperwork but no "health certificate" and didn't have a problem.

If you enjoy a glass of wine now and then, stop in Oliver on the way to Kelowna and spend a couple of days touring the wineries. I think there were 19 the last time we were there.

KM,

It is my understanding that a health certificate is required and issued within the last 30 days of boarder crossing. We leave for Canada and Alaska next month and will get the certificate just before we leave. We are more worried about our house plants that I would hate to leave at the boarder, but will take our chances. If we show the inspector a nice fresh health certificate maybe we can play dumb with the house plants.
Bottom line is they have lots of ways to trip you up at the boarder, however I don't think that is what they will try to do. Just be nice and smile alot.
Have a nice trip!

I do not think plants will be a problem but I am not sure. What I do know for certain having cruised boats up there for years is that potatoes and some fruits, apples etc. are a problem at least in BC. Taxes on liquor are confiscatory! No guns or pepper spray or mace. We have never been asked for pet docs. but discretion is the better part of valor.

Have you checked the net for Canadian Regs.?
Have a great trip. It is a gorgeous part of the world from the water and we look forward to going in our coach.

KM,

Please allow me to correct my prior statement about the health certificate. I think all you need is a certificate from a vet. stating your dog or cat has been vaccinated against rabies in the last 3 years.
I'm required to have a health certificate for my pet because I'm putting my coach and pet on the ferry thru Canada to Alaska.
